Hello everyone,
After scouring various forums on all the sites, I’ve decided to post in this section thinking "you never know".
I haven't had any sound on Windows 7 64-bit for some time now. It happened overnight without any explanation or apparent cause...
I have of course tried reinstalling the sound card drivers (integrated into the motherboard), those provided on the Realtek website as well as those provided with my motherboard, but without resolving the issue. I also uninstalled the card and the Realtek software, restarted so that Windows could install the basic drivers, but no luck.
I went ahead with a format, but I still have the same problem.
What’s very strange is that when I play an audio file (video, mp3....) and I open the volume mixer, I can see that the playback device is set to 'Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)' and that the volume bars fluctuate according to the file being played...
My speakers are indeed set as the default playback device... honestly, I really don’t see what’s wrong..
Especially since my configuration is recent (less than 3 months), so I find it hard to believe that the integrated sound card has failed.
I’m not sure what to do anymore, aside from buying a PCI sound card?
Thanks for your help, and I hope to see you soon.

Hello,
Have you checked that you are outputting sound in analog and not digital?

I connected a headset and speakers to the rear output via a cable with a double female input.
It worked very well before, and I tried connecting only one device at a time, whether it was the speakers or the headset, but it doesn't change anything.
I also tested my devices using my phone, and the sound works properly.

Okay, I had the same problem and I found the solution.
In Control Panel / Sound, set Realtek digital output as default, right-click on RealTek, then show disabled devices, normally the Speaker icon will appear in greyed out, you just need to right-click on it and then Enable, and there you go, it works, both devices are checked, the speakers with a "comma" and the Realtek digital output with a phone.
I hope that helps you.

are you connected to an amplifier, headphones, or the PC's speakers?

Normally, when you uninstall the Realtek High Definition Audio driver, Windows 7 installs its driver and your sound card changes its name to High Definition Audio Device, right?
Have you tested the driver provided by Asus?

After downloading the Asus suite, I launch the various setups under the Asus Update directory, but nothing happens; I don't feel like it's really doing anything, apart from creating DLLs in the Asus folder in Program Files... but not a classic installation like it did when I found a version of Asus Update online. Did I miss something?

I just tested my microphone by configuring voice recognition, setting up the microphone, and when I dictate the phrase (requested by Windows to set up the microphone), the voice recognition bar does not fluctuate...
The recording device is indeed set to default, which is Realtek; "Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)"... Maybe a clue...
Thank you for your help.

In the Realtek HD Audio Manager, is there a section where you can see the jack plugs lighting up when you plug something into them?
Indeed, when I unplug and then re-plug a headset/speakers, a window appears confirming that I just connected a device...
To respond to Cameron, I ran an update check via ma-config.com, and there are no newer drivers regarding the sound.
Hello,
Have you uninstalled the Realtek driver and reinstalled it with the one Destrio5 provided you, which is this one --> Audio?

Well, a friend of mine is going to lend me a PCI sound card, hoping it will work because otherwise I don't see how I'm going to manage.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read and respond, have a good evening.

When I connect them to the front, in the playback devices I see that the speakers are disconnected and it switches to another device... This is confirmed by the Realtek manager, which does indicate a disconnection when I unplugged them from the back, but doesn't signal anything at all when I plug in the front.
I may have incorrectly connected a cable from the case to my motherboard.

In the advanced device settings;
- Mute the rear output when a headset is plugged into the front.
- Play two different and simultaneous audio streams through the front and rear output devices.
I checked the second option but there’s no sound either,
Afterwards, I think it doesn’t even detect when you plug into the front panel. Because in the manager it highlights the inputs used at the back (front input and mic), but not at the front when, for example, I plug in a headset..
