Emachines E510 won't start anymore

Hello,

I have a portable computer, the e machines 510, which starts up for two seconds and then shuts down. My charger is plugged in and it's on, while on my laptop, the battery charging LED is not lit.

    Hi,

    remove your battery and plug your charger into a power outlet, then turn on your PC..........
    Does it start or not?

    The laptop does not start at all when plugged into the mains without the battery, but it does start with the battery and then shuts down.
