Emachines E510: adding RAM?

Hello,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone in advance who takes the time to consider my question.
I am currently using an eMachines E510 laptop. Admittedly, it's a bit cheap, and it’s a little slow. I would like to give it a second life and increase its capabilities.
Would it be useful or interesting to add more RAM? If so, what hardware? I know how to proceed with the installation. I just checked the current RAM sticks. It says on them:
1 GB 2Rx16 PC2 - 5300S-55S-12-A3
M470T2864DZ3-CE60827
I am eagerly awaiting your responses ;)

Hello everyone,
A few additional bits of information regarding the eMachines e510,
With a hardware upgrade, it becomes a very responsive laptop for office use, internet, and multimedia... (despite the "poor quality of its graphics chipset), here is the Aida64 report of mine after this upgrade...

Each time check if the CPU is running a lot or if the memory is heavily used (in the Performance tab). If it's the memory, I will help you get a compatible one for your PC; otherwise, it's better to buy a new PC since 1GB of RAM must be about 5 years old or so, so all the components are newer now except for the RAM, which often remains for sale.

I did what you told me by doing what I normally do, let's say browsing the internet, listening to music, two or three other things...
CPU usage: Almost always at 100%, it dropped to 60% when I was writing.
Memory: Always around 1 GB, fluctuating by ± 0.10 GB around 1 GB.

Well, you see, RAM as long as it's not used to the maximum doesn't slow down your PC; it keeps the same speed whether it's used at 10% or 90%. But the processor, when it's used at 100%, means it's doing everything it can to handle your task. A modern processor rarely exceeds 50% during these tasks, a processor still holding up will have peaks between 10% and 90%, and an outdated processor will constantly be at 100%. For word processing, you should be between 0% and 30% at most. So, in my opinion, your processor is getting a bit old; you can add RAM, but that won't suddenly turn it into a rocket; it will help relieve it in multitasking, for instance. If you still want to add RAM, let me know.
Do you have any idea about the motherboard? Do you know the reference of your processor? Or maybe the complete name of your PC?

For a machine of this quality, it would be much easier to reinvest in something more recent. The problem with low-end PCs is that modifying their components is often useless (except for the RAM).
By looking online or even in supermarkets, you will see that for less than €500, you can get laptops that are 3 to 4 times more powerful than yours.

The problem with computers is that everything goes too fast; what's trendy now will become obsolete in two months, let alone in five years...
To avoid the "Buy-Throw Away-Buy Again" cycle, it's best to invest directly in a high-end computer (preferably a desktop). From there, you'll be able to more easily change components one by one so it never falls behind.
If you can't afford it (which I totally understand as it's my case too :p), you can also sell your old computer and buy one for €300/400; the sale price will offset some of the cost of the new computer. If you do this every five years, it’s not excessive ^^

However, if you have two slots, both RAM sticks need to be the same for better performance, so either you add another 1GB stick or you replace the first one and put in 2 sticks of 2GB (which would be the best option). Anything above that wouldn't be useful unless you switch to 64-bit.
