Invisible mutual friends

Hello,

I have an ex-friend on Facebook whose friends list I can't see (mine is hidden as well), but when I search for this person in the dropdown menu, just by typing the first three letters of their first name, I see the mention "2 mutual friends." I go to their profile (which is private), where I can only see a few pieces of information, and the friends list is indeed still hidden with no mention of mutual friends on their profile.
At first, I thought it was a glitch, so I logged out and logged back in, and I still see the same mention in the search list even though our respective friends lists are hidden.

Just to clarify: I am not friends with this person, and our friends lists are hidden. Is there a solution to see these so-called 2 mutual friends? Is this mention normal since our friends lists are hidden? Could it be a glitch? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks for your insights!

    Hi,

Facebook is not confidential and even by hiding everything, you can still find a ton of things ;)

      Thank you for your response.
      But what do you mean?
But how to know who they are?

See who they are, I'm not sure if that's possible! But it shows that FB doesn't hide as much from us when we set the privacy to the max...
There might be a way to see who they are: go to your friends, and check the friends list of each of them by searching for the name of your ex-friend...

Facebook doesn't hide you at all :-) The goal of Facebook is for you to be seen.

Well said Bruce ;) and I would add that, from my experience in web programming, it has never been a matter of confidentiality, that is to say, respecting what "public / customized / private" means literally (at least in the eyes of the user). Creating a social network (like fb) that respects the notions of "ppp" is not as difficult as you think, but such a network would collapse in no time. Why? Simply because there's no room left for curiosity.. hmmm we could perhaps say "Like a prison" :p What fb does, in my opinion, is exposing us to glimmers of hope (reminds me of Prison Break xD lol). Well! I've written too much and I better keep quiet now ;D

@Danelectro: I have 200 friends on Facebook, most of whom hide their friends! A real needle in a haystack..
@Bruce Willix; In the meantime we know that Facebook didn't want to hide that we have 2 mutual friends, but in the meantime we don't know who they are.. It's of no help to us :)

    Thanks anyway for your responses!
And if anyone else has more, I would be interested :p
