Good evening. I have had Pal2GO for years on an old Win 98 machine, but... it's difficult to transfer it to others since I don't have the Setup.
I just figured it out: it's simple.
If you want, I can upload everything (about 6 MB) to an FTP site and send you the link, if you have an FTP site or... something equivalent! (free! of course!)
I could give you the details for manual installation: it's easy... I managed to do it!
On XP Home: perfect, I think it will work without problems on XP Pro... it was still simple and robust mechanics!
Best regards.

Hello,
I would like to open an image with pals2go to edit it. However, I get a message stating: "No I/O files available. Check the F102PATH= line in the ULEAD.INI file.
However, I do not have the ULEAD.INI file.
Please note that I have been using PALS2GO without any issues for years.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello

I have pals2go on floppy disk and I've been using it for years.
After a formatting, I wanted to reinstall it and it doesn't work anymore, I think the floppy disks have been damaged, anyway.
Could you send me the link so I can reinstall this software that I find really great.

Thank you

Jmarie

Hello Jmarie,
I often get help on the Net, so I would like to help out too.
… I’ve kept the famous ‘Pals2Go’ on one machine. It has the advantage, among other things, of not requiring a classic installation.
I liked it a lot, and like many, I’ve been using Photoshop for a long time, of which I use it like a fool… It’s a shame!
All you need to do is copy the directory: Pals2Go to C: (with 3 subdirectories), the Ulead2 directory to C:, and the Ulead.ini file to: c:\windows. (depending on the disk where Windows is)
The launch file is: Ieditor.exe located in the Pals2Go directory.
This brave boy hardly crashes at all! (not tested on Vista though!)

You surely know the great qualities of this software and its little flaws… truncated file names… But, the thing has access to network files…
I have all that, so, only… I don’t know how to send it to you! (for download).
I have FTP sites (non-confidential!) if you have a program like Cute FTP, otherwise I don’t know what to do.
If you have a good solution, I would gladly take it.
I remain at your disposal.
With my 'internet' regards.

Hello Frantz,

No, I don't have any cute, or FTP or anything like that, I'm not very good with computers, nor with drawing for that matter, that's why I appreciate pal2go, anyway.

However, I have already used the FTP system from Free that is used to send "large files".
The one that sends stores the data with Free for a month, Free gives it a password and a link, which password and link are only redistributed to the friends you authorize to retrieve them from Free.

I think you know this stuff well since you talk about FTP, so if you agree, you can send me Pale2go this way, which is within my reach, unless there’s a confidentiality issue or something I don't know about.

Thank you.

Hello JMarie,
I thought of you.
I recommend you try searching Google (or another search engine) for the word: PhotoFiltre
It’s a free (and legal) software that looks just like our good old Pals2Go…
The icons are similar, the commands too, etc. (Zoom in + and – like Pals2)
Downloading and installing are perfectly simple, and on top of that: it works the first time.

I installed and tested it on XP and Vista: it runs perfectly.
(Vista hates Pals2Go)
The image assembly functions do not exist in PhotoFiltre, but… we can do it differently to put images together.
Advantage: accepts file names longer than 8 characters.

If you have any difficulty, feel free to ask me; I’d be happy to help.
If you prefer Pals2Go: we’ll manage.
Best regards
Frantz M.

Oh, yes, I have 35 years of experience with computers, especially in programming, but that doesn’t stop me from struggling nonetheless!!! Good luck!
And as the old Plato said: “All I know is that I know nothing…”
I am still very impressed by the knowledge of many young people in discussion groups…

Hello everyone

I have been using pals2go Ieditor for ten years on various versions of Windows without any problems. I have installed it on several machines either from the original diskettes that I still have, or by copying the directory.

I’m experiencing a BIG trouble: On my current laptop (Windows XP Home), Windows crashed on its own with its media player (blue screen of death... and all that!)

A friend gave me a copy of Windows XP Home on CD (because of course, we don’t have it with the laptop) and I repaired Windows. It removed the driver for my printer but I was able to reinstall it. Now everything works perfectly. EXCEPT THAT:

"Windows cannot find c:\pals2go\ieditor.exe. Check....etc...."

I copied it from the diskettes to a USB key, I tried to reinstall: Windows can’t find the executables in question on the key, nor anywhere else...
Note: Windows XP does the same thing with some old games. I tried compatibility mode, disabled the firewall for the relevant software, ran an antivirus scan, nothing works!!!
But apart from that, Madame la marquise, everything is fine for the other programs....

The big trouble is that without Ieditor, I can’t live (having to use another machine and transfer via USB is a killer)

HELP Please!

Chris

Hello Mamy_Chris... I still have Pals2Go... a bit... outdated, but I keep it (as a souvenir)... Same problem as above, to send it to you... (5.6 MB). Do you have an FTP site?
Just to let you know: Pals2Go doesn't require any special installation. Two directories: Pals2Go and Ulead2 (and the corresponding programs, of course).

Don't worry anymore: we'll sort this out!

Thank you Frantz,

I also still have this program installed on 3 computers and it works very well. and on floppy disks.
The problem comes from Windows which no longer wants to recognize it on my laptop, since the Windows repair that messed something up, but what???
If anyone has any idea, ...
Merry Christmas to all the visitors of this site!

Merry Christmas to everyone and to Mamy_Chris

In my opinion, having already transported Pals2Go on several machines, including XP Home, this software has the wonderful property of not needing to be installed: you can simply copy it.
My version dates back to... 1994, but... it is doing great for its age, but, when you love something... you don't count!

But...
Pals2Go works with two distinct directories (on a C or D drive)
1st Directory: Pals2Go with 3 subdirectories: Catalogs, Palettes, and Samples.
[ Catalogs has 11 .ABM files, my Palette (at home) has no file... and Samples: IP2LEIMG.ABM (album)]
The Pals2Go directory contains: 28 files, including IEDITOR.EXE.
2nd Directory: Ulead2

In the Pals2Go directory: there is, among other things, Ieditor.exe (the Program itself)
And in the Ulead2 directory... there are 9 .FIO files, 3 .dll files, and 1 Fio.hlp file.
The 3 .dll files are: PCDLIB.DLL, UF2CU.DLL, and UF2ICI.DLL

If you do not have a ULEAD2 directory (with the 11 ABM files), you will get a problem message with Ulead.ini and it will stop.

Normally... you should find these 2 directories on your other machines.
I remain at your disposal
Frantz Moulin.

(in the other message... I accidentally gave my Moulin 2 wings...!)

I also have a problem with this program, I can no longer find the original disks, and if my machine crashes, I am unable to reinstall. Could someone please send me an image of these 2 disks by email?

Thank you in advance.
