Hello,
so, my current PC is getting old, and by giving it a makeover I'd like to change its processor... and I can admit I don't understand anything about BIOS or even motherboard compatibility.
I was simply wondering if this processor would be compatible with my motherboard https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/processeurs/l-10764.html
which is this one http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01357175&lc=en&cc=fr&dlc=fr#N92
in this PC http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=fr&lc=fr&dlc=fr&docname=c01553277#N66
I already know that the AM2+ socket is compatible with the AM3 processor... Thank you for informing me for future responses... if there are any questions, please feel free to ask.
Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 535.19

Hi,
no, it's impossible:
Socket type: AM2+
The motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt TDP)
Athlon64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt TDP)
Athlon64 less than 4000+
Sempron less than 3800+
You can therefore only install a maximum of an AMD Phenom x4 (not a Phenom II x4) with a max TDP of 95W
HP does not regularly update their motherboards for processor compatibility; you wouldn't have had this issue with a custom-built PC.
1024% addicted to Ghz!!!-
"HP does not provide regular updates for their motherboards regarding processor compatibility, you wouldn't have had this issue with a custom-built PC."
Unnecessary remark, as it doesn't help solve the problem. He could consider changing both the motherboard and the RAM at the same time. For example:
Motherboard:

RAM:
https://www.topachat.com/pages/detail2_cat_est_micro_puis_rubrique_est_wme_ddr3_puis_ref_est_in10047955.html
CPU:
https://www.topachat.com/pages/detail2_cat_est_micro_puis_rubrique_est_wpr_puis_ref_est_in10037526.html
Unless he can afford to change the case at the same time, then an ATX motherboard would be preferable.

Thank you for that, it's just that I wasn't totally sure about it... so do I need a new motherboard? But which one?
Otherwise, Mr. Mustang, to answer you, if it's a built PC, that's exactly the problem! -
Well, I can't find the Phenom 4 core; ever since they released the Phenom 2, it feels like the Phenom has completely disappeared.
I found this one at 109 euros http://www.commentcamarche.net/guide/1124756-amd-phenom-x4-9950-2-6-ghz-socket-am2-in-a-box but there are no purchase links, please let me know! -
So I should change my motherboard, but can I at least put in an ASUS motherboard? Anything other than HP, right?

What can you advise me regarding the motherboard and RAM? For the CPU, I could even go for a 6-core AM3 by changing the motherboard, right?
Do you think this one would suit me? https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/cartes-meres/asus-m5a78l-m-lx-v2/f-10765-m5a78lmlxv2.html -
