Processeur x4 compatible avec la carte mère MCP61PM-hm

Hello,
so, my current PC is getting old, and by giving it a makeover I'd like to change its processor... and I can admit I don't understand anything about BIOS or even motherboard compatibility.

    no, it's impossible:

    Socket type: AM2+
    The motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt TDP)
    Athlon64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt TDP)
    Athlon64 less than 4000+
    Sempron less than 3800+

    You can therefore only install a maximum of an AMD Phenom x4 (not a Phenom II x4) with a max TDP of 95W

    HP does not regularly update their motherboards for processor compatibility; you wouldn't have had this issue with a custom-built PC.

      Unnecessary remark, as it doesn't help solve the problem. He could consider changing both the motherboard and the RAM at the same time. For example:

    Thank you for that, it's just that I wasn't totally sure about it... so do I need a new motherboard? But which one?

    Otherwise, Mr. Mustang, to answer you, if it's a built PC, that's exactly the problem!

      With an HP motherboard. It's hard to believe...

      A "normal" AM2+ would already take more processors... The best would be 1155/AM3(+) + DDR3

    Well, I can't find the Phenom 4 core; ever since they released the Phenom 2, it feels like the Phenom has completely disappeared.

    I found this one at 109 euros http://www.commentcamarche.net/guide/1124756-amd-phenom-x4-9950-2-6-ghz-socket-am2-in-a-box but there are no purchase links, please let me know!

    So I should change my motherboard, but can I at least put in an ASUS motherboard? Anything other than HP, right?

      If you change the motherboard + CPU + RAM yes... PS: Make sure the motherboard comes out of the case easily (basically, that you can unscrew everything...), I had a nasty surprise with an HP.

      Go find some 6-core CPUs for sale too...

      If you find any, probably used, get RAM type 1333/1600 MHz, a decent motherboard.

      This one supports all AMD CPUs and will be fine for reasonable overclocking if you decide to do it...
