Hello everyone,

So here it is, I just watched episode twelve of season two of The Walking Dead and there are two things that puzzled me:

Firstly:

Why does Shawn become a zombie? He was neither scratched nor bitten by a Walker, he turns into a zombie after being killed by Rick with a knife ... One could assume that the knife in question was dirty with zombie blood, but given the situation, I think they are careful enough to clean their equipment ...
Maybe this will be explained later in the series (for those who read the comics ...) but in any case, I find it rather illogical for now.

Secondly:

When he becomes a zombie (Shawn that is), only five minutes pass between the moment of his death and his transformation, while Andrea's sister in season one, who was scratched and bitten, transformed after a night ... So I suspect that from a script perspective this can be explained since at the end of the episode, we see a horde of Walkers approaching the farm, but I don’t think there’s any connection since Carl kills Zombie-Shawn BEFORE the horde arrives. It would have been simpler and more consistent to leave Shawn there and have him join the horde later so they could kill him during the big confrontation, that would have made more sense in my opinion.

This second point is just a detail obviously, but I would be curious to know your thoughts on the first one, which really struck me ... At first, I thought it was a hallucination, a nightmare of Rick who, after killing his "best" friend, sees zombies coming, then his son who had no reason to be there points the gun at him but kills Zombie-Shawn ... It didn’t feel natural ... But actually, not at all. ^^

Well, I apologize for the long post.
Thanks in advance to fellow fanatics like me of the series and see you soon. :)

    Hi!

I think everyone has answered the question.
In the last episode of season 1, Rick learns in the lab that they are all infected, and that they will transform when they die. This is the case for Shane, who is going to be stabbed, and the prisoner who is going to have his neck broken.
The fact that they wake up quickly comes from the doctor's explanation in the lab. The duration is variable.

Anyway, I love this series. We're about to finish season 3 (unfortunately) and I can guarantee that some crazy things are happening!!! Season 3 is full of twists and action. It will answer several of your questions.

Good luck with the wait (I don’t know how you do it ^^)

    and long live DARYYYYLLLLLL!!!! =D

And if someone bleeds, will they become a zombie??? A cut or a scratch... or is it only when they die?? Or if they are bitten by a zombie???

      Lol! Okay, thanks!
& you're welcome, it seemed natural for me to note it ... Just because I saw it doesn't mean everyone saw it.
Anyway, great episode! It's really good. ;-)

The series is really awesome and I recommend it to everyone. At first, it didn't really tempt me, but then I got into the first episode and I simply want to say it's sublime...
If you don't know which series to invest in, go for The Walking Dead!

If you have watched the season of The Walking Dead, you could see that they went to the Center for Disease Control and that Rick, alone with the doctor, was able to learn that we all have the virus and that as soon as we die (without being bitten or scratched), we inevitably transform, and he also announced to everyone that the time it takes to turn into a zombie can vary from 8 minutes to 24 hours.

      (SPOIL SPLOIL SPLOIL SPOIL!!!)

But then why when Dale dies at the end of episode 11 do we not see him turn into a zombie?

Same, even the prisoner has become a zombie when he was killed by Shane, I find that illogical!!!

The only limit we can set is that between the moment Shawn (Shane?) killed him and the moment Glenn and Daryl find him, he could have been bitten or something else; we don't know.
But for Shawn, we follow the entire sequence and at no point does a Walker touch him.

Yes, on the hill, where Dalle actually died...
That's why I thought maybe Rick was having a bad trip after killing Shane...
Then I remembered how stupid that kid is. :p

Yes, but I believe that at the beginning he wanted to shoot his father.

I couldn't say that. This kind of typically American effect is often used...

Actually, I started watching season 3, and it explains that they all have the virus in their bodies (without exception) and that when someone dies, they immediately become a zombie and wake up, even if they haven't been bitten or scratched.
