urgent locate stolen PC with MAC Solved

Question

Hello, a week ago my computer was stolen from my home. There are no signs of a break-in so I suspect my jealous ex might have a copy of the key because he would be very interested to know who I'm talking to on my computer (guy)... I've been doing my own research for a week because the police aren't taking action... I know my MAC address and I've been told that it's possible to trace the connection with it. So I don't want to know if it's possible, I want the answer on how to locate it........ Let's say he's stupid and hasn't formatted my computer and connects at his home to snoop through photos, conversations, etc. before formatting or selling it to a friend. The longer I wait, the less chance I have of finding it... So please tell me how I can locate it with my MAC address???????? And if I asked the police to contact his internet provider, Videotron, to find out if my MAC address would be in the modem's history since the theft to know if there has been any connection from his place?? That's my next step... Please help me, I want the person to be punished and to get my computer back. I've had to pay to change all my locks and put bars on my window out of fear. If you haven't installed any specific tracking software, you won't be able to do anything, even if you know your MAC address.

A MAC address is changeable. It does not provide any guarantee of traceability.

No, a MAC address does not change; I have been confirmed by Bell and the Acer company... only the IP address changes. Three days after the theft, I went to my ex's place as a surprise to search, but I didn't find anything. The only place I didn't search was the mother's room because it's private and she's away. I even intentionally avoided answering his calls so that he would come to my place to see why I wasn't responding and to see his children. It worked. I asked to see his keys and tried them in my lock, but unfortunately, he didn't have the keys with him... I think he must have sold it to some friends or it's hidden in his mother's room... I sent a fax with all my information to Acer's warranty service and my MAC number... at least they will do research to find my serial number... I'm persevering... If anyone is a computer genius and knows how to trace a PC with a MAC number, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you.

Well, my problem is solved!!! I found my computer myself thanks to domestic violence... I filed a complaint for theft, trespassing, and assault... he is in prison, well good for him, and I will get reimbursed for the other computer I had to buy. Thank you again for your help ;)

The best way is to file a complaint with the police.........they can detect it.
