yes, but the MAC address is not supposed to pass through the box, at least that's what I think.

Are you having problems with IE8? I'll give you THE solution, install Firefox (search on Google).

Yes, but today to connect to the internet, we go through an operator.
And this operator gives you an ADSL box that acts as a router and will distribute the IP addresses based on the MAC addresses that connect.
There are also audit logs that allow you to track the internet connection logins of your devices, hence possible tracing.
There is no anonymity when browsing the internet.

Hello Polux,

Having followed this topic, I am about to buy Steganos Anti Theft. I had my laptop stolen this week. I have my serial number and my Mac address. I understand that I need to install Steganos on the PC to locate... but I obviously don't have it.

I also know that my last hope is to locate it via the Mac address. The police services do not do this kind of thing... I would like to find software that I can install on another PC that is not the one that was lost and thus, by providing my Mac address, could scan the IP addresses that "map" to the Mac address of my lost PC. It seems technically possible on the web.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you in advance,

Beublegum.

In fact, not all police services do this, but crime in this area is increasing, so in every major city, they have opened a department. So go to the central police station of your city or a large city!
