Hello everyone, has anyone ever used this software to repair or analyze a HDD??
I posted another topic about a data transfer issue but I haven't had a solution so I'm trying something else and I came across this apparently very good software that doesn't find any bad sectors (that's a start) but a lot of "delays detected" but... what does that mean??
While browsing, I found this:
Anyway... "delays detected" indicates that during the test via HDD regenerator, a delay was detected in "Read/Write"...
The delay in "Read/Write" indicates wear on the HDD...
Now... if it's not recent... it’s normal for it to wear out a bit... especially since MICROSOFT systems aren’t made to allow them a long life... (significant fragmentation, etc...)
Regarding HDD regenerator... it can be effective in repairing defective sectors, but several passes are needed... (4 passes is ideal in case of "BAD" sectors that are repaired! But it’s lengthy... very lengthy... sometimes several days...)
4 passes = once per platter
Well, it all sounds nice, but what does it mean delay in read/write, how to fix that and what problems does it cause because I only found a few sites often in English but they didn’t give much explanation on this subject and what about a fatigue of the HDD?? I have one that is 6 months old and another that is 1 week old...
Is that why every time I try to transfer files to the disk it crashes or is it my PC that sometimes takes a while to detect or misdetect my HDD and that causes a "delay" and blocks the transfers?
Please help me, I have 2 external HDDs and I can’t back anything up :-(
P.S.: I have another discussion thread on this site "blue screen" as I retrieved the data and decided to fully format the hard drive, the blue screen doesn’t bother me much now so how do I mark the subject as resolved please? Thanks
