Excel: Insert tab grayed out and inaccessible Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

I am having a problem with Excel, on a spreadsheet that only I use and that I have never locked with any password.

Indeed, for the past few days, for some unknown reason, most of the menu in the Insert tab is inaccessible to me. The sub-menus Illustrations and Charts are grayed out and I cannot click on them.

I have already searched on Google but found no solution, so I am coming to you for help... :)

The error came from an Excel setting, so it wasn't really an error. Click on the Office button > Excel Options > Advanced Options“For objects, show:” Set to “All.”

You're only experiencing this problem on the insertion nail!
Because your description images a protection
If your file doesn't contain any confidential notes, can you post it where we can see it?

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, there is indeed confidential data I can't attach.
Moreover, I want to point out that in the Review tab, nothing indicates that it has been locked since the options "protect sheet/workbook" are still available to me.
And I am the only one using this doc, and I have never locked it.

It's really strange, I've been looking but I can't find a solution. :(

Without more information, it’s difficult to advise you, and what’s strange is that this only happens with this file.

Reset the ribbon functions for insertion anyway, start by opening your file/click on the Microsoft button (in the top right) click on Excel options/Customize/in Choose commands... select the Insert tab and Reset.

I deleted all the data from the doc but I left the entire "structure," so maybe when you open it you'll understand what's going on. :)

I have the same problem. I wonder if it might be because I enabled track changes on this file. However, I don't know how to revert it.

I had the same problem because I had two "linked" sheets in the same workbook (so they were selected simultaneously).

Solution: Right-click on the tab of one of the two sheets and click "Unlink Sheets".
