Hello,

I am having a problem with Excel, on a spreadsheet that only I use and that I have never locked with any password.

Indeed, for the past few days, for some unknown reason, most of the menu in the Insert tab is inaccessible to me. The sub-menus Illustrations and Charts are grayed out and I cannot click on them.

I have already searched on Google but found no solution, so I am coming to you for help... :)

Thank you and have a great day.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 8.0.1

The error came from an Excel setting, so it wasn't really an error.
  • Click on the Office button > Excel Options > Advanced Options
  • “For objects, show:” Set to “All.”

First tab 'File'; Choose 'Convert'; Compatibility mode.

This activates the grayed-out areas.

It's not that the file is corrupted, it's that between different versions, some options are not compatible, particularly Segment, which cannot be used with 2003 and earlier.
Saving your 2003 document in 2010 version doesn't always solve the problem, so it really needs to be converted this way.
