Workstation: service stopped

Hello

I needed to run a netview, and the command prompt indicates that the "Workstation" service is stopped. When I try to start it, an error message appears. I checked the event log, and I noticed that these messages occur very frequently:

The Workstation service stopped with specific service error 2250 (0x8CA). The Computer Browser service depends on the Workstation service which could not start due to the error: The service returned an error code that is specific to it. Unable to load the MRxSmb device driver. Unable to load the RDR device driver.

I don’t know what I can do.

Thank you very much for your help.

François

P.S.: This is XP Pro (msdnaa)

Seriously, aren't there any other alternatives than going to retrieve a backup? I don't get why this is hitting me like this... The system is healthy, no viruses or anything. Maybe the problem has existed since the initial installation, in which case a backup recovery would be useless...

Do you know the MRxSmb and RDR device drivers?
    What do they correspond to?

    Thank you very much

Thank you very much for your response.
    The link is interesting.
I don't have these programs installed, but I notice that, for example, the TribalWeb software can no longer connect to the internet, or is very slow.
This confirms the hypothesis that Vmware is causing all this trouble.
It asked me during the installation to install a driver, or it wouldn't work... So I now think that it's coming from there: its driver is messing everything up.

I will try to fix it... by restoring the system to before the driver installation. I hope it will work.

    Thank you!

    François

PS: I am currently sharing my files between two machines (I took a break since your last advice - it was me who had ping issues). And since network neighborhood is not working, I tried a netview to see if we could see the shares...!

      It's net view,
net view is something else ;-)
but the net view command is nothing more than a command-line representation of the network neighborhood (network shortcuts / Microsoft network), rather it's the opposite: network neighborhood is a graphical representation of net view.

    All of this is nonsense

I don't know how the station service goes down, but I know how to get it back up.

1 I turn off the Windows 7 firewall
2 I turn it back on
3 the station service works again

But if you shut down your station and then turn it on again, then the station service is closed again

Just quickly go back to step 1

If anyone has a better solution, I'm all ears

    Well,
    randomly ... reinstall ...
perhaps disinfect first if it's not already active.
    reinstall the drivers in question.
    reinstall from a system backup
    reinstall everything
