Good evening, I just bought a Fransat decoder and the seller told me it was possible to make it work while keeping the satellite dish on Astra, so without having to switch it to Atlantic Bird 3. However, I just installed it and when I start the settings, I can't change the satellite; it only shows "Atlantic Bird 3" (I'm supposed to be able to change it to Astra to then search for channels), and if I try to search for channels with "Atlantic Bird 3," it says "failed" (which I think is normal since it's not the right orientation). Is there anyone who knows about this or who has experienced the same problem and could help me? Thanks in advance :)

Good evening, I'm sorry to tell you this but your dealer is useless and dishonest!
The Fransat decoder only works on Atlantic Bird because by finding this satellite, it locks onto it and only onto it, and installs the channels.
So you either point the antenna at Atlantic Bird while keeping the Fransat
or you keep your antenna on Astra and exchange Fransat for a TNTsat decoder, which only works on Astra.

A Fransat demodulator works particularly well on AB 3 but also on any other satellite broadcasting clear channels, and sometimes even encrypted channels in Viaccess, such as BIS TV or Canalsat... (e.g. Aston Fransat Diva...)

Hello, let's not lose sight of the case of timmy67: he just bought a fransat decoder, so he wants to receive TNT channels via Atlantic Bird, but his satellite dish is aimed at Astra. A Fransat demodulator, such as Aston, after programming, perfectly receives all clear channels from Astra 1 and the SD Canalsat / C+ bouquet, but not TNT Sat... except for the part of the bouquet containing its clear channels (Direct 8, Arte, BFM Tv, and I Tele, LCP).

Hello everyone, during the switch to HD, I connected a new TNT sat HD but since then I have all the foreign channels and a few French ones like iTélé but not the main ones like TF1 and other TNT channels!! I reset it to factory settings and did a channel search again but nothing works! Does anyone have a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am a professional and astonished to read all these messages! Don't give your opinion if you don't know. Regarding our friend who got "stuck" with a Fransat for an installation on ASTRA, I advise him to invite his seller to set this device up, because, how do you know? Maybe AB3 is not received in that area, due to an obstacle for example; if our friend tries to realign on AB3, success is not guaranteed!
What is certain is that a "Fransat" receiver is equipped with a specific encryption that is totally incompatible with the TNT SAT offer on ASTRA.
PS: I have done over 1000 installations and I believe I know what I'm talking about on this subject.

I advise all my clients to buy Fransat, and for my clients who are on TNTSAT with an SD receiver, to switch to FRANSAT with an HD receiver when renewing their broken SD receiver. Unless the client really wants to stay on TNTSAT (I have certain clients like that).

a satellite dish has just been set up, the installer said that a Fransat decoder is needed. When I install it, it detects a signal only from Astra 19.2E and Eurobird 9A, it finds the channels but when I try to save them it says no channels available.
Is the dish misaligned?

Eurobird = Eutelsat 9 = 9°East... there are only the Swiss versions of TF1, M6, W9.........

It has been clearly explained that all 25 free French channels are exclusively on Eutelsat 5WA at 5°West and not on Astra 1 19°E, which can, however, remain a complementary satellite for the international offer, like the 2014 World Cup currently being broadcast free-to-air by German television (Das Erste- ZDF) while it must be paid for via Bein Sport!!!

A Fransat decoder can work on Astra but only for FREE TO Air channels by activating the diseqc on the receiver. For TNT channels, a TNTSAT is needed.

via a Fransat HD on Astra, follow French and foreign channels in clear or encrypted Viaccess standard. If using the Tntsat bouquet, a Canal Ready HD is required but not HD 1 or 6 TER and some new channels are only available in SD.

Conclusion: it is better to choose Eutelsat 5WA for the French channels and the complementary F and E via Astra.

The complete and free Fransat bouquet is only available on Eutelsat 5WA. Therefore, you would need a compatible antenna installation, a dish or head, positioned at least at 5°W, and an HD Fransat decoder that is compatible with additional clear channels on Astra 19°E (and/or Hot-Bird or Astra 2....) Be careful to make the right choice!

If you have a Canal Ready terminal for Tntsat (= incomplete bouquet), it won't work for following Fransat, Nordnet being for high speed on the former Eurobird 9, now Eutelsat 9 Ka-Sat.

Fransat, and particularly the Aston Diva terminals or other dual card reader models, allow the reading of 2 Viaccess-based cards: one specific to Fransat and another standard Viaccess card, such as Bein Sports or Bis TV or Sat Access for Swiss users, without any distinction of port.
