My TV no longer detects the HDMI from my PS3.

Hello everyone,

I’ll briefly explain my issue because I've noticed I'm not the only one experiencing this, although each case seems to differ:
My PS3 has always been connected to my Samsung Full HD television.
Suddenly, without any changes or any PS updates, my TV displays "Mode not supported".
My PS3 works through AV and I've tried everything—rebooting, manually switching to HDMI via the AV connection, I even did a full reset of my console.
Finally, I bought a new PS3 Slim thinking the issue was with the HDMI port of my old PS3.
And then, same thing!
So I returned the new PS3 to the store for a refund and took my old PS3 to a friend’s house who has the same TV as me and, miraculously, everything works even in HDMI!
I should mention that my Neuf Box is connected via HDMI and it works perfectly.
I also tested other HDMI cables and all the ports on the TV.
In short, my TV picks up the HDMI from my box, but not from the PS3, and I know that both the PS3 and the cable are still working fine.
If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be fantastic, but I must say I'm feeling a bit desperate and I can see myself having to tell my wife that we need to buy a new TV!!

Thanks to everyone for reading this till the end!!!

Before I started reading, I was 100% sure that your TV was a Samsung. Those damn Samsungs are acting up. I'm EXACTLY in the same situation as you (except mine is an Xbox 360). I've tried everything: changing the Xbox, resetting the display settings, buying 4 different HDMI cables, changing HDMI ports, swapping around, calling Microsoft support, then Samsung's, then the store where I bought my TV; here are their responses:
    Microsoft: Go for repairs.
    Samsung: Call Xbox support.
    Boulanger: Call us blablabla.
That’s when I changed my Xbox (for the Wi-Fi). But oh, no changes, still that "unsupported mode" message. One fine day, everything worked (I don’t know why) for a month. Then another fine day, everything stopped working. I updated the TV, reset to default settings, everything! Anyway, just to let you know that you will have to: Have someone come to check your TV. Or sorry, but you’ll have to change your TV. Yes, because everything, absolutely EVERYTHING, works on another LG TV (and not Samsung). So I think I’ve shed some light on your problem. As of today, I still haven't solved my issue, so I'm playing with the worthless SCART cables. ANYWAY! Goodbye :)
Oh yes, it’s not even a resolution compatibility issue because I set EVERYTHING to 1080p. I also want to specify that nothing works on my Samsung TV right now; my Blu-ray player, my Xbox of course, my Freebox, and my PC.

      Hi,

I have a bit more answers now because I had the chance to talk with a Tele installer technician.
The major flaw of Samsung TVs lies in the electronic components.
It often happens that a capacitor burns out, for example.
He also briefly explained how HDMI works. According to him, the problem doesn't come from the cable or the console, but from the TV's graphics card or the HDMI card. It's possible for one type of signal to pass through but not another because the "strength" of the signal differs.
The solution is to have each component of the HDMI card checked. The problem is that generally, they don't bother and just replace the entire card (which is quite expensive, by the way) without being 100% sure that it's indeed the cause.
In short, you either have to go to a repairman and ask him to change a very specific part without being sure that the problem actually comes from it, or change your TV...
In any case, I now know that I won't be buying Samsung again.... (my computer screen was also Samsung and a capacitor burned out...)
In any case, a PS3 without HDMI is like a Porsche with a French engine in it! :)
      Thanks anyway!
      Talk to you later!

Ah ... it hurts my heart! I had heard about that too. Same for Xbox, the picture is really bad. Well, I'm not complaining, I have another TV a bit smaller on which it works. Thanks anyway for all this information, it helped me, and now I know what I have to do! See you!

I had the same problem, I unplugged my screen and plugged it back in and it worked... go figure.
