TV does not recognize any external signal Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,  I have a problem with a new Samsung LED TV; the connection is made for an outdoor antenna, or the cable; but ADSL is not provided!! As a result, the TV tuner does not find ANY channels!! Fortunately, the TV decoder, connected via HDMI to the TV, recognizes it. It would be perfect IF I didn't constantly have this signal displayed on the screen "No signal. Please check the connection, etc..etc.. The Samsung customer service I contacted does not provide any explanation. Shit!! I am open to any solution, thank you   Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 10.0

ADSL is planned, but you still need an ADSL TV box that will connect via HDMI or SCART to the TV.

Hello, your question intrigues me even though I'm not able to answer it: ADSL directly on a TV goes through a box first, is that your TV decoder? So to eliminate the causes, try using another television Then I think you need to look at your ADSL box.

Hello, if your TV is connected to an external antenna, select 'terrestrial' for the channel search.If you receive TV through cable, select 'cable' when starting the channel search.Try to specify your antenna connection; by what means do you receive the TNT: cable, antenna, box, satellite decoder.....Apparently, it's a decoder, so select 'source' or HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 or AUX on the TV remote to display programs received via your decoder.If you press 1 or another channel number on your TV remote and your TV antenna input is not connected to any antenna or cable network, your TV will indicate 'no TV channels.....': this is normal.What would be abnormal is the display of this message even when you are on HDMI 1, for example, meaning when you are watching TV via the decoder.If that's the case, go to the display menus of the TV and remove the corresponding option.

Hello, Since the TV is new, it should be equipped with a DTT tuner, often referred to as DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting), an international term from which the French DTT standard is derived. This source is accessible via the remote control or the menu buttons on the set, just like the other sources, such as AV inputs (VCR, DVD recorder, game consoles), the PC input, and the potential video input (RCA connectors). Therefore, to my knowledge, there are no examples of TVs incapable of directly receiving broadcasts (except for older TVs for DTT). ADSL cannot be anticipated, unless there is a new hybrid product that could incorporate an ADSL adapter. Moreover, the TV tuner is only used if you want to receive the 24 existing DTT channels. For ADSL packages and VOD (Video on Demand), the selection is made on the ADSL adapter (Livebox, Freebox, etc...) while waiting for the expansion of the connected TV offering (Sony, Toshiba, Apple, etc.. receiving and broadcasting programs from these manufacturers). For your decoder (what is it?), it is on this device that you should make the selection (decoder remote control). I believe your issue could have two causes: either the activation of the HDMI port, which needs to be done on certain TVs (possibly try with an HDMI PC), or the simple switching (TV remote control) from an AV1 to AV5 input, corresponding to the connected HDMI input. Nonetheless, the ineptitude of the store staff (and not Samsung) is quite absurd, as they should be able to guide you on the procedure to follow. Best regards.

Hello, Thank you for your responses. I'll try to be clearer: I have neither the cable nor an outdoor antenna. My TV is only connected to the SFR TV decoder, which is itself connected to the Neufbox. Connection Decoder/TV: HDMI. If I search for channels on the TV, it finds nothing! No signal, that's what appears on the screen. However, I have the channels + VOD..with the remote control of the SFR TV decoder, okay? My only problem: how can I make the message "No signal.. blah blah blah" disappear, which displays on the TV screen when it's in standby? Note that I didn't have this problem with the previous TV, Thomson, which was 3 years old. So far, I have never had problems with Samsung, whether in phones, cameras or TVs. Yes, my TV is new (8 days old), yes, Samsung's customer service (not the store's) is very, very lacking..! I don't think I've forgotten anything.. Best regards.

Good evening!  So it's "no signal" from the HDMI source because you put the decoder on standby? Then the solution is to put the TV on standby as well.

We perfectly understand. Your TV is only used as a screen to view the channels broadcasted by the SFR TV decoder. It cannot pick up anything else if it is not connected to an antenna! That’s why it displays “No signal” when it is not receiving... any video signal.   There is the one who does wrong and there is the one who watches but lets it happen...!
