All my icons are identical

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 and I consider myself more of a novice when it comes to computers. For a few days now, all my icons and software shortcuts are identical (except for folders, etc.). It's very frustrating; imagine this:
I want to launch iTunes, but I have to right-click, select "Open with," and choose iTunes. Then all my software (even in the start menu) adopts the iTunes logo, and if I try to open something, it starts with iTunes (and of course, it doesn't work...). I want to launch Firefox, so I do the same: right-click, "Open with," select Firefox, and all my icons take on the Firefox logo, and the software wants to open with Firefox...

I’ve already searched the site and tried to find solutions, but nothing has been effective so far. I don’t have a backup of my PC (restore). I do have a partition to reset it, but I’m worried it won’t change anything (I saw someone who reset and it didn’t change anything). What should I do?
If you could help me, that would be great!

    Download this utility --> RstAssociations Version .scr
    and place it on the desktop.

    Run it as an administrator
    Click on all
    Click on restore.

    Restart the PC.

    Hello.

    Save your open files, do not leave any applications running.

    Then, Start, in the Search box, type cmd, then right-click on cmd.exe at the top, then choose Run as administrator

    In the Command Prompt window, type this:

    taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F (Press Enter to confirm).
    cd /d %userprofile%\appdata\local (Press Enter to confirm).
    attrib -h -r -s iconcache.db (Press Enter to confirm).
    del iconcache.db /q (Press Enter to confirm).
    shutdown /r (Press Enter to confirm).

      Thank you for your response. I could only seriously try it now and when I reached the part
      attrib -h -r -s iconcache.db (Press Enter to confirm).
      it replies: file not found - iconcache.db ...

      I think it doesn't go any further in your procedure. What do you think?

    Hello,

    Download these 2 files and place them on the desktop:
    --> seven_exe.reg
    --> seven_lnk.reg

    Then, restart by tapping F8 or F5 to go into --> safe mode.

    Upon arrival, right-click on the file --> seven_exe.reg, click on merge, accept even if there is an error message.

    Do the same with the other file --> seven_lnk.reg

    Then restart the PC.
