[Outlook] Receiving the same email 100 times Solved

Question

Hello everyone!

Here is my problem: on Outlook, one account is receiving the same email more than 100 times and this happens with several messages. I suspect a virus, I would like to know your opinions if you've ever had this issue!

In your Outlook mailbox, go to Tools ---> Accounts ---> Mail ---> Properties ---> Advanced ---> in the Sending box, uncheck Split messages larger than... I had the same issue where my recipients would receive 56 or more when I only sent one email, and since making this change, it has been resolved. Hi and good luck!

Hello,It's not necessarily a virus. The problem can occur with an oversized attachment, which causes an incomplete download of the message that then re-downloads every time you connect.What you can do is log directly onto your email provider's website to delete it. After that, you shouldn't have any issues with Outlook.Best regards.

Hi,

I know this phenomenon because I’ve experienced it before. However, it only takes one problematic message for all the messages stored on the server to be downloaded again at each connection. What happens is that Outlook downloads a group of messages, and if the download is blocked or interrupted by just one message, Outlook will want to redownload everything on the next connection.

You therefore need to completely clear your mailbox, but directly on the server.

Hello,

I have this problem with a variant: no large emails on my server (Orange), so none that could block the flow.
Out of 5 PCs available to me, only 3 are having recurring email issues on OUTLOOK, the other 2 are working normally.
What should I do?

Sorry to bother you, but I think I have the same issue as you. Every time I connect with Outlook, I receive the same series of messages with error notifications again. I'm fed up. What should I do?

I also have the same problem, namely receiving multiple messages addressed to me whenever they are sent via a distribution list, whether they are commercial or private messages. Note: Outlook + Orange. Apparently, I am not the only one.

Hello,
I am indeed experiencing this issue of receiving the same message multiple times, around 8 to 12 times.
My setup: XP2 + Outlook 2003 via Wanadoo, with BitDefender.
Indeed, for the batches of 100 emails, it's easy to resolve the issue by deleting them directly on Wanadoo, I no longer have this kind of problem today; however, the repetition 8 to 12 times happens every day. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I have exactly the same problem, dozens of messages that keep coming back duplicated in 10, my messaging is crazy...... what should I do besides going to the server level for the messaging..... is it a virus?

After switching to Outlook 2007 (the PC had Outlook 2000, just to remind you) on a shared PC with the same Orange account using Outlook Express, the issue only occurs on Outlook and not on Outlook Express... incredible...

It seems that the problem only happens if the "Leave a copy of the message on the server" option in the accounts is enabled.

Moreover, the "Remove from server after deletion in Deleted Items" option does not work!

In short, it’s a joyful mess with messages arriving 15 times on the client and messages that do not delete from the server despite a good configuration of the accounts on Outlook and Outlook Express.

I'm still looking for a solution after 4 months of ongoing hassle...

Hello everyone, I was receiving my emails in duplicate on Outlook, I've just found the solution to avoid this, simply go to Tools, then Account, then Advanced and uncheck the box to keep a copy on the server!

Hello, I just had the same issue; I managed by checking my inbox for Orange and looking at the messages waiting to be transferred on Outlook. I canceled the unwanted ones, and everything is back to normal.

The problem does not necessarily come from a message with an attachment that is too large, because after emptying my inbox containing several thousand messages, the issue reoccurred for new messages the following day, and then the next day, and this happened every time I emptied my inbox.  I installed Thunderbird and configured all my email accounts (about a dozen) and the problem does not occur on this Mail client.  So the problem indeed comes from Outlook itself. It should be noted that for me, it was the Macintosh version.

Hello everyone, this kind of problem, meaning receiving multiple copies of the same email while the sender only sent it once, occurs only when the message is large, so the sending must take a certain amount of time when the detail of your sending server is less than that time. So the solution to this problem is very simple and easy: increase the sending time of your POP server. Here’s the procedure:
go to tools and select options. In the mail tab, click on the send/receive button, then modify, then choose account properties and then advanced. At this point, the default value is 1 minute; increase this value to 5 minutes or even 10 minutes according to your convenience and speed, then click OK to validate all modifications, restart Outlook for the changes to take effect, and resend your email. The result is impressive.
Don’t forget:
tools/options/mail/send-receive/modify/account properties/advanced options...
and it’s done!

To test different solutions regarding duplicate emails and more on Outlook:
You need to go to tools/options/email tab/email accounts and for each of your accounts, click and modify:
/additional settings/advanced options and there in the server timeout, you adjust the slider to increase the timeout, I set it to over 3 minutes for each email account and since then there are no more duplicate messages.
I also specify that in the advanced settings, I have always configured my email addresses as follows:
- check the box: leave a copy of messages on the server
- check delete from the server after 30 days (you can set it to more or less... but I did according to my vacation absence possibilities...)
- check delete from the server after being deleted from the deleted items folder.
This way, I can receive all my emails identically on several computers (except for those I have deleted and emptied...) and I can also consult them on the corresponding mailing servers (free, zimbra, gmail...).
I didn't have this duplicate email problem on Outlook Express under Win XP, but I have a new PC at work, and Windows Seven. So switching to Outlook on the work PC for my email. Because it wasn't possible to use Windows Live Mail which was not compatible with a software from my work, that I could no longer save, due to a conflict with Interbase. For a software like Thunderbird, I also thought about it, but there was too much risk of losing all my messages, so I preferred Outlook, safer! On my other personal PCs, I have Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail, depending on the system on the machine.
