Format Asus PC Windows 7

Question

Hello, I bought an Asus X72J laptop, and since I didn't receive an installation CD, I would like to know how to format it in case of issues. I tried the "Al Recovery Burner" program, but I get a message saying that "the recovery partition does not exist." I also tried to "reinstall Windows" from the Control Panel, but I need the Windows installation CD, which I do not have. I hope you can resolve my issue, thank you.

Hello,
When you have the menu to restore to factory settings, you will have three choices. If you choose option 1 - first partition only, the other partitions will remain unchanged.

Thank you for replying. The manual I received says to press F9 during startup, then it says to press Enter to select Windows Setup, but the problem is that when I press F9, the computer tells me "choose your operating system," but there's no sign of Windows Setup.

Hello,

Check that your hard drive is not a dynamic disk using the Windows disk manager.

If it is dynamic, and of course your recovery partition is on it, you need to convert it back to basic.

The only tool I know of that can do this while keeping the files is EASUS Partition Manager. You can download the free Home version.

After converting your disk to basic (the behavior, the number of partitions, and the files are retained), you need to change the Recovery partition to primary (if it is logical), and then make it active.

Before doing this, make sure you have a bootable CD that allows you to return to your Windows system partition if the Recovery partition is down. Ideally, you should have a Windows 7 CD that offers to "repair the computer."

Then reboot the computer.

The F9 key will bring back the "Windows Setup [EMS]" that you lost. I advise you to choose this entry, then cancel it just before the actual restoration.

This will result in the Recovery partition being hidden, just like it was initially under Windows 7.

No, as long as the factory restore partition is still present, there's no need for a CD/DVD.
You select option one from the menu that will appear.

As explained in the topic, I plan to reformat my Asus.
I can't find my "recovery DVDs," so I would like to know if by pressing the F9 key I could reformat the partition of my OS or if all my 4 partitions will be reformatted?
