Hello,

Madam has just received a new laptop equipped with Windows 7 of course.
She has an Epson EPL 5800L printer that works perfectly well under Windows XP.
I am very surprised by Epson's official response, "there are no drivers for this printer."
This seems not very eco-friendly, and not at all nice for my wallet as the equivalent model costs around 200€.
Thank you to anyone who could suggest an alternative solution to run the EPL5800L printer on Windows 7
Best regards
Marc

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 5.0

Here is part of the correspondence with Epson

      EPSON e-mail No Ref-514-FR-2102968-5 May 2011

Thank you not to modify this header; it would make tracking your requests difficult.

      Dear Mr. Barruel,

Thank you for contacting EPSON's email service.

I understand your surprise, but this printer is neither compatible with Vista nor Windows 7. And Epson net config (the application epson328060.exe) is not a driver but a utility to configure the network cards of Epson printers, and cannot be used for printing.

The only options available to you are either to revert to Windows XP or to change the printer.
      Sincerely,

      Didier

It works with the (common) drivers of Vista 64, XP 64, or Windows Server 64.
      Remove the printer,
      Unplug it,
Add a printer using the "provided disk" option by directing to the appropriate directory
      Reconnect the printer
      And voilà!

Thank you for letting me know where I can download these (common) drivers.

    Hello;

Have you tried an installation with the Vista drivers (32 or 64 bits) from this link
It is recommended to disconnect all printer connections beforehand and only reconnect them when prompted by the system during the new installation

      Hello
if I do not plug in the printer, it is not recognized by the network.
When the printer is unplugged and I launch epson324681eu, the following message appears.
"32 bit setup cannot be run on a 64 bit platform, please use the additional printer function...."
Epson makes very good equipment but is unable to support it (see above this printer is neither compatible with Vista nor Windows 7) I had a similar problem with an Epson scanner, the applications are subcontracted and not supported.
I need to find an external solution to Epson.
      Best regards, Marc

      Hello;
      You write:
"When the printer is unplugged and I launch epson324681eu, the following message appears.
"32 bit setup cannot be executed on a 64 bit platform, use the additional printer function...."
Have you tried with the Vista 64 Bits installation?
on this link which is not the same file

Not since the error message appears directly.
The 64-bit installation is the epson328060 file which has already been tried unsuccessfully, see above.
      See you later.

This corresponds to the image you sent me, the file is indeed epson324682eu.exe
the only difference with the image of this file for me is that it loads directly.
      See you!

    Hello
I bought a small inkjet printer that works with Windows 7, okay it prints in color but the quality is not there.
I regret my 5800L which just wants to keep working.
I know it's possible to write a driver to make it compatible.
Who could help me with this task?
    Best regards
    @+ Marc

The implementation of writing this driver poses issues.
