Using software on a Synology NAS

Hello,

I would like to install software on my Synology NAS, but when mapping the folder, I'm missing the .exe files and other formats (the folder is 3.65 GB but I only have 3.54 GB).

So if you have any ideas, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance to those who take the time to read this.

I did some research and it seems that I need to create an application server, but it looks complicated. Isn't there another way?

P.S.: I'm a beginner in computing.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 4.0.1

    Hi,
there's certainly a problem with the units of measurement.
Disk managers don't necessarily report the same thing: size in clusters or actual file size, mebibytes or megabytes?

Thank you for your reply, but where are the other files then???
In fact, the goal is to install my software on it and access it from another PC.

I just saw that Synology runs on Linux OS and that therefore it's impossible to put an exe on it.

But in that case, how do I create a shared folder and install my software in it for other users to use???

Not being able to execute .exe files on the NAS does not mean that they cannot be stored there; any type of files can be stored on it.

install the software, no, that can't work, it's a file server, not an application server.
that users can download the installer is already pretty good.

Thank you for this information, so I will switch to Windows Home Server to be able to use my software but also to store my data.

      I have a question
Is it possible to change the OS to WHS on my Synology????

      No,
it is not possible to change the OS of the Synology.
If you want an application server instead of a file server, you need to install a Windows server (not even home server) 2008 server with a lot of memory, licenses, and everything else that goes with it.
