Can you connect a NAS directly to the computer?

Hello,

Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

I bought a Planet 2-bay SATA NAS RAID server 7202
When I tried to connect it directly to my computer via an Ethernet cable, I get a message saying that the communication cannot be established...
Is it not possible to connect this NAS directly to my computer, even temporarily?
I attempted this due to copying speed issues encountered with the NAS connected to a Devolo 500 powerline adapter. My computer is also connected to a Devolo 500 powerline adapter (the same one as it has 3 outlets) and folder copying is happening at an average speed of 150 to 200 KB/s!!!
Could someone please guide me???
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

A NAS hard drive needs to be connected to the network via a box or a router. Connecting it with a regular Ethernet cable to the computer will not work; you should try using a "crossover" Ethernet cable, which can be found in large stores (I can't guarantee that it will work, but it is possible since it works between computers). The best option is to connect it to a box or a small router.

Best regards.
