Spacing after table in Word 2007 Solved

Question

Hello,

In Word 2007, when you create a table, the last row has a "paragraph spacing after" set to 0 pt. If I increase this spacing, the entire table row moves down instead of just the space between the table and the following paragraph.

I could solve this problem by increasing the "spacing before paragraph" of the text following my table, but that's just a band-aid solution that doesn't really fix the issue...
What I want is for the text following my table to be 18 pt lower than my table, and that this should be due to a spacing AFTER the table, not BEFORE my text.

Example:

"Last line of the table with paragraph spacing after set to 0 pt"
"Text that follows, stuck to the table"

"Last line of the table with paragraph spacing after set to 6 pt"
________________________________________________________
"Text that follows, stuck to the table"

It's a difficult situation to describe accurately; I can provide more examples if that helps...

Hello everyone,

I'm having the same issue, writing outside the table before or after it.

Right-click on the little plus at the top left of the table,
Choose the "cut" option,
Open three lines of text by pressing enter,
On the middle line, right-click and choose the "paste" option,
I end up with a line of text before and after my table.

And there's one less issue.

Good evening,  "Difficult situation to describe accurately""... it's also hard to understand! :-)  A hint: "If I increase this space, it's my entire row in the table that will drop down": By right-clicking on the table / Properties / Row tab / you have an option "allow row splitting across pages"  The text that should follow the table at 18 pts, is it text from the table or text outside the table?  It would be helpful to attach a small part of the file to better understand your request.  -- Argitxu

Several solutions exist, such as:

- First insert paragraph breaks, then create the table between two breaks.

- End the table with an empty row; convert this table row into text.

Hello,

I asked myself the exact same question today, and after trying everything, I couldn't find a real solution... My workaround is based on yours, adding spacing before the next paragraph, and I create a new style, clearly indicating that the next paragraph is based on the "normal" style; this saves me from having to rethink it too much, and it allows me to have a clean setup, where all my tables will follow the same style!

There you go, sorry I can't provide a real solution, but I find it pretty handy since, in the end, you just have to apply a style!

Good evening

We can prepare a pre-formatted table (or tables) for the document's needs in columns, but with one or more rows, adding a paragraph after the table (with a spacing of 18 or other).

We select the table and the paragraph: Insert tab / tables / quick tables / save selection to quick tables gallery / MyTable / The quick tables gallery is already displayed / OK

When entering text while alternating between table and text in a document, we type: MyTable and F3
(slow method Insert / Table / Quick tables / MyTable comes up first.

Select the paragraph, right-click, click on "Paragraph", in Indentation and Spacing, Spacing, After. If nothing is entered, it's automatic and it depends on the style, I think. Write 0 pt. The line under the table disappears.

This applies to Word 2010

I asked myself the same question. Since I only want to use styles, I created a style "After-table" with the required spacing that I apply to the paragraph following the table, making sure to set the styles to follow. I know, it's not very clean!
