Hello everyone, I bought an Asus laptop about a year ago and since yesterday, I can no longer use it at all. Indeed, it powers on just fine until the desktop appears, then a few minutes later the loading icon appears and it freezes (the computer is loading who knows what until I decide to shut it down). Therefore, I can no longer open the internet or any other application. The only change made to the system was installing the latest version of Internet Explorer and then I took it to my grandmother's (but I don't believe that's the cause of the problem!). What can I do knowing that no reinstallation CD was provided and that I have no restore point? Furthermore, the computer also freezes in safe mode with network support. Thank you in advance for your help everyone. Romain
Ps: My operating system is Windows Vista.

Hi Romain
I didn't fully understand your problem but I'll tell you what I gathered
After installing ie 9 you no longer have access to your programs?
How come you don't have a Vista reinstall CD?
It's the fifth Asus computer I've had, I've always received a CD
If I understood the problem correctly, try recreating the shortcut from the system folder where the programs in question are located -
Hi Alex, thanks for your quick response. Actually, I've installed IE 9 and since then the loading icon is showing and won't disappear like it normally should. I can no longer click on my icons and therefore can't access the Internet. But I’m not sure that this installation is the cause of the problem. As for the CD, I actually bought it at the E.Lecl*** supermarket and I didn’t receive the CD in my box (out of stock?). Other than that, I'm not very good with computers, can you explain the steps for what you told me to do? Thanks in advance. Romain

to find your icons, go to
start, computer or C: > program files and program files x86 if you have win
7 > then after, you have all the software here, you enter the relevant folders then right click on the icon and create a shortcut -
Ok, but the problem is that this loading icon is preventing me from accessing the start menu, different programs, the system, in short, I can't do anything.

When I talk about the loading icon, I'm referring to the mouse pointer (arrow) that changes to a small hourglass.

I'm sorry Alex, I just found 3 Asus CDs (I thought I didn't have any!) but I don't know which one is the recovery disk. Can you tell me what it looks like? Thanks in advance. Romain
