Hello,
I’m reaching out to you from a friend’s laptop, which connects without any problem to my Livebox (and with an excellent signal). For my part, equipped with a recent desktop computer (bought about 15 months ago) and using Wi-Fi, I have always noticed connection issues (only 1 or 2 bars of signal), whether I’m on Wi-Fi or using a cable running across my living room.
I attributed the problem to my Livebox, so I renewed it, but there was no change.
And today, suddenly, it’s impossible to connect no matter what I try (turning the Livebox off and on, restarting the computer, updating the network card drivers).
During the network diagnostic, the following message appears:
“The ‘Local Area Connection 2’ card is experiencing driver or hardware problems.”
Is there any way to improve the reliability and performance of the connection, knowing that I am too far to use a Ethernet cable, but that nothing prevents the Wi-Fi from working, since I’m in the same room as my box?
Thanks in advance for your answers

Well the problem is that it's a bit complicated to go through Ethernet now, the cable is too short.
But a while ago, before going on the site, I had looked at the drivers (I don't remember how), and I had updated the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter," the only device or my computer found an update for, it says the rest is fine.
In the meantime, my computer connected to the wireless network with the "USB Wireless LAN Card RT73" ... and disconnected again :( -
Connect your PC with an Ethernet cable, and in the Control Panel -> Device Manager -> your wireless network card - right-click to update the driver.

First of all, thank you very much for looking into my problem.
Otherwise, I’ve been asking myself the same question since I saw that from the laptop the connection works fine, while from my desktop I have almost no signal.
The problem is that I don’t see how I could have “lost” them, since I don’t know what I’m supposed to have in terms of drivers, cards, or whatever.
Proof too that weird things are happening... while I was writing my message here, my desktop finally connected (without me doing anything, and while the last diagnostic left me with the message I copied), but still weak signal (1 bar) and very slow internet.
Which drivers would I need, and how can I check that??? Sorry, I only know the basics of computing, and not all the mysteries ;) -
You need to find a way to connect your PC to the Internet in order to go to the site https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=29 and run a scan; this will enumerate all the devices and components of your PC and thus offer to load missing or outdated drivers... I’m not an expert per se, but I’m browsing the net to find a solution. I’ll come back a little later (yes, I have kids who don’t wait lol) Courage!

Darn... 10 minutes ago, he was online...
Well, I’ll keep at it... and hope, which should give you plenty of time to take care of and enjoy your little family ;)
Thanks for your help, I’ll keep you posted -

pfffffff
Disgusted.
I was able to go to the site and start the detection. Apparently, it found a newer driver for my LAN card, so I started the download... and then... connection cut at 81% of the download...
Since then, impossible to reconnect :(
But anyway, great trick this site. Thanks for recommending it! -
Otherwise you go on someone else's computer, you type on Google the name of the driver you started downloading, you download it and burn it to a CD or USB drive, and you go back to install it on your PC!
I had done this for one of my computers, it worked....
It's a good site, from time to time I use it to stay up to date ;-) -
lol...
finally, it should be fine, you bring me luck.
By the time I reply to you, my computer reconnected (I just have to ignore it!).
I just finished installing the software... now I need to understand what it displays to me! -
Oh, that’s already something!! I’ll keep an eye on the forum too in case I can help you, don’t hesitate!
-
Okay, that's nice :)
For the moment, I haven't understood everything yet, but my connection only dropped once, for a few seconds at most... so huge progress compared to this morning.
But well, my signal still remains very weak (indicated at only 15%), so I will stay on the site you pointed me to and probably update other drivers as well, that might move things forward a bit more.
I'll come back to give news if it stays up for a while or if there are still problems.
In any case, while waiting, a very big thank you for your valuable help and your awesome advice ;) -
hey,
here you go, as promised, a little passage to inform you that for now, everything seems to be working... well, not a miracle, my signal is still very weak... but at least, I can log in again... and for good, that's cool...
Thank you very much for your help, also, thanks to the site you told me about, I was able to update quite a lot of my drivers... it can’t hurt!
Thanks for everything, and all the best to you -
