Hello,
I created (and it seems I deleted it a month later) a LinkedIn profile 2 years ago, which I no longer want to see appear when I type my name into Google.
I had already taken steps a long time ago and thought that the search engine was just slow and would eventually update and no longer show it, but apparently not:
Problem: it appears!
Second problem: when I enter my email (I've tried my 3 emails), it tells me it doesn't recognize me (my password remains the same). Just in case I mistyped my password, I requested to have my password sent to my 3 emails. So far no response from any of my emails.
Third problem: you cannot call them, only send them an email (done), but... I need to send my response to a job offer before this weekend (the deadline for the offer, this profile seriously hinders my job search in general) and apparently they don't respond quickly (it's been several days already: no response).
Moreover, if none of my emails work, how can I prove to them that this name is indeed mine (so they can delete this damn named profile), by email!!!? with a scan of my passport?? :(( I am loooost...
Has anyone encountered this problem (and resolved it ...;))?
I specify that I have already gone through the forums to find an answer but ...nothing.
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.13

Thank you for your response Emilie!
To be honest, I can't go on LinkedIn to check if my profile appears by typing my name directly on their site because I would need to sign up again to access it, which I don't want to do! They ask for your registration email and password on their homepage, impossible to proceed without that.
Good news: I received a reply from the site to my email! They told me that they just proceeded today with the deletion of my profile, following my request, and that it will take 72 hours to disappear from their site. Then, if it continues to appear, as you said: it's the search engines that are to blame.
And: I just typed my name on Google, my name appears on a LinkedIn link, but if I click on it, nothing at all!! :))) Phew!
