Hello,
I'm trying to install a CANON printer using its installation CD (over a network with several PCs at work), but my computer (running Windows 7) won't read the disk and displays the following message: "Unable to start the installation in the current environment, please check the startup conditions." What settings need to be changed and where?
Can anyone help me? :) ??
THANK YOU

Hello
I don't think it's a problem with the readability of the CD.
Apparently, the installation program does not recognize the current conditions of its environment. It all depends on the operation you're trying to launch...
Is it a so-called "network" printer (to be connected via cable or Wi-Fi to the current network), or a "traditional" printer connected to a specific PC?
In the latter case: first, "share" the printer (after installing it on this PC) from the computer that manages it (go to the "properties" of the printer), and give it a share name.
Then on each PC on the network, request to install a new printer, declare when prompted that it is a printer located on the network, start the search, and then confirm your choice when the shared printer is offered. Then its driver will be automatically installed from the "owner" PC to the requesting PC. The procedure is very straightforward, and you don't need the CD...
Regarding Windows 7, it is likely that you will need to perform all these operations from an administrator account, not just a "guest" on the network.
Print jobs will be launched as usual, by selecting the shared printer. Of course, the owner PC must be powered on.
All this assumes, of course, that your network of PCs is correctly set up, particularly with the "file and printer sharing" option, which is likely.
See you later

Yes, that's right. You just need to download the correct driver from the right Canon website, as there was a time when the official site did not provide the correct driver --> Canon is too strong.
As for the CD, it is not usable with Windows 7 64-bit but only on Windows 7 32-bit --> Canon is too strong.

Hello,
thank you for your reply.
It's a so-called "network" printer and I'm connected to my work network with a cable, so there's no problem with that. However, the installation CD gives me this error: "unable to start the installation in the current environment, check the startup conditions," when on other computers the installation went smoothly, even on those with Windows 7...

Re
I assume you are at work and not connected remotely, as that could change everything...
Are you logged in on your PC as an administrator?
Check the properties of your network connection to ensure that the "file and printer sharing" option is present...
Otherwise, you'll need to see what might be different between your PC or its Windows session and the others, which is easy to say but not necessarily easy to find...
Are you in the same "workgroup" as the other PCs? Normally yes, if you can access the other PCs...
Have you tried a "ping" to the IP address of your printer? But this is only valid if your printer is "trained" to respond to it, so it's not significant...
Cheers

Hello, I have exactly the same problem with the installation CD for a Canon printer.
And unfortunately, I can’t find anything on the internet regarding this error "Unable to start the installation in the current environment. Please check the installation startup conditions."
I tried running the program in Vista, XP compatibility mode, but it doesn't change anything; this message still appears.
I guess that by installing all the software and drivers manually, it will work. In any case, that's what I'm going to try because right now I don't see what else to do: apparently, this error message is quite rare.

I have a problem installing a CANON MF 3010 printer!! Since it has already been installed on another computer!! I'm getting a message saying ".... Check the installation requirements for the software" I don't understand this expression and I don't know what the problem is!! Help me, it's urgent :'(
to solve this problem, I reinstalled all the machines that were rejecting the printer driver. I upgraded them all to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and the driver took.
