Hello, I have a laser pointer with a special battery. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get another one because it is dead! It is an Ultrafire TR18650 3.7V 2400mAh. From what I know, it is rechargeable, and since I'm a bit short on time to order online (I have a party tonight where I need my laser), I would like to know if someone could tell me how to quickly make a homemade charger. I know that "official" chargers output 4.2V at 600mAh... Can anyone help me? I would also like to know if it is dangerous for my laser to use a 3800mAh battery instead of the 2400mAh... while keeping the voltage at 3.7 of course...

What class is your laser?

It's better to avoid recharging batteries not originally intended for that.
What type of battery do you have?

My laser is a 200mW green one in a secure steel casing with a key at the base ^^ not a little piece of crap laser, lol!! The battery is an Ultrafire TR18650 3.7V 2400mAh and on EVERY site I go to, ALL the Ultrafire batteries I see are rechargeable, so I think mine is too. Anyway, I'm not very good at English but according to what's written on the battery, I think it is a rechargeable one.

The voltage of full charge and cut-off discharge is 4.2V and 2.75V.

Okay, but you didn't answer me

The class of the laser is its definition in European law. Type 1, 2, 3... etc
Be careful, above type 2 it's illegal in France, don't get caught with it.

And the nature of the battery is its composition: NiMh, NiCd, LiPo, etc...
It should be marked on the battery, normally.

WARNING

Don't heat, incinerate or reverse polarity.

That's it!! It's a Class IIIB.

and… just to be sure lol!! The ceramic plates are mandatory? If you don't have any lol!! A 600mAh 4.2V charger like most of those that are sold, would that be good? If I plug it in for 10 minutes just to make sure it doesn't burn out. By the way, to be sure, when charging, do you need to connect the + to the - or the + to the +?

The laser cost me €55, and the batteries online are around €9 for the two at most!! I even found some sites where I can get 2 with a charger for €18!! However, as I said, I have a party tonight where I need the laser... I need to be able to recharge this battery by then...

Well, your laser is illegal in France (reserved for professionals)
So hide it well

Since there's no indication of the nature of the chemical compound, I would advise you not to recharge it. But if you have no choice:

1. put your battery between two ceramic plates (for safety)
2. connect it to the charger and watch out for the polarity
3. recharge it BRIEFLY, with small successive charges

type "Li-Po explosion" on YouTube, you'll see why it's better to isolate the battery...

10 minutes? No, no, I'm talking about VERY short charges, like a maximum of 60 seconds

The + on the + of course, and I strongly advise you not to make a mistake.

OK, thanks for the advice!! As for ceramic plates, I would rather put a salad bowl on top lol!! I'm ALL plastic at home, so no ceramics (except for knives...)

Hi

Just a thing, how much did your laser cost you? Because you're going to spend more on buying the battery...

In my opinion, if the voltage is the same, it won't change anything, at best it increases the capacity, at worst you damage the connection wires.

Buy a new one, this kind of thing costs 5 euros in any store like Macao.
