Hello,
I have a software called AVS Video Converter that does beautiful video conversions. I ripped a DVD using DVD Decrypter (which is also a great software, by the way). I wanted to convert it for my iPod. It's a VOB file that I wanted to turn into MPEG4. But when I convert it, the sound becomes distorted, to the point where we can no longer hear the original track :s I've done plenty of conversions with this software without any issues, and I've already converted this DVD with other lower quality software (like Videora, Format Factory, Koyote's Free Video Converter, etc...) without any other issues, just lower quality.
My question is: why is the sound conversion like this with VOB files? And is there a solution that can be applied directly in AVS?
Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Home Edition

Everything's fine, it all works ;)
Thank you very much for your patience, you’re saving me ^^ -
I tried again with other software (including Koyote Free Video Converter, and even extracting the DVD directly from AVS) and it gives me the same horrible sound result :s
However, I have already converted this same DVD with Koyote without the sound being corrupted :s So I think it doesn’t come from the software but from a configuration issue on my PC. Sound card? Codec? I don’t know...
Can someone help me :s ? -
I tried again with Format Factory, another software that worked for this same DVD before... and it works! But the quality isn't great either :s I think it's a codec issue, because Format Factory converts the audio track to AAC, while AVS converts it to M-PEG2/4. But strangely, Kyote also converts to AAC, and yet there is that same horrible sound...
Can anyone help me :s ? -
Hello
the audio track of your DVD is in which format, AC3? The sound from your source is good
is your audio track in 2.1 or 5.1? Can you select the audio track in your rip?
for the first time
cheers -
The audio track of my DVD is in LPCM and in stereo 2.0. I can select the track I want in my ripper, and it's the right one, because the sound of my VOB file is good :s

re
try Xmedia recode
to set the software to French go to settings (if it’s in English just above the question mark?)
click on it, then preferences, and finally language set it to French.
open your video file
go to profile and choose apple
click on the dropdown menu below, you should find your ipod
select it, the parameters are preset you don't have to worry
click on add then encode
don't forget to specify your destination folder (you can open your dvd ripper with it and cut the portion of video to encode)
good luck

Thank you very much, I'll give it a try :) And how is the quality?
-
Thank you so much, it works and the quality is higher than with AVS :D I preferred to adjust it manually, that way I got exactly what I wanted ;)
But one thing though, is it normal that the stereo is reversed :s? I hear what's supposed to be on the left coming from the right and vice versa. It's all the more noticeable since it's a concert DVD...-
Hello
you can try to process your audio track differently, go to audio track (xmedia recode then channel mapping, finally channel order mode, set it to custom and switch channel 1 and channel
2) the version of Xmedia recode I use is 2.3.09 and I've never used this function
indeed a concert DVD is serious in terms of sound, I do it in mkv with the 5.1 track
I won't tell you the effect
just let me know if this function works -

The function is not working :s When I put it in, the sound of the new file is distorted, just like with AVS :s
Is there any way to fix this?
You've already helped me a lot, and I would really appreciate it if you could help me one (I hope) last time :) -
I took for the iPod nano 3G H.264 320x240 and the audio codec is AAC.
I tried the software and the result is normal: everything is in the right place :) -
Yes, when I convert with this software, it's fine, but what do I do afterwards, given that this software only extracts the audio? :s
-
In fact, when I use XMedia Recode, the profile I set is iPod nano 3G H.264 320x240 and the sound in AAC. That's when the sound is reversed.
When I use popbit video to mp3 converter, the sound is in the right direction. But it's only an audio file, and just in MP3 :s-
Hello Zarc
you can encode your mp3 with xmedia recode to aac. Put your sound file in xmedia recode
then customize finally add then encode. You listen to see if it’s in the right direction. Then you open
your 3gp file with xmedia recode, select video then copy video, it will only extract the video, then you stitch everything together with mp4 box gui. Strange story, have you tried encoding it in another format? If not, try sound taxi as a log
bye

"Have you tried encoding it in another format?" Yes, none gave the same result (meaning corrupted or inverted). But with XMedia Recode, the codec possible with the formats compatible with my iPod is AAC :s
I’m going to bother you again :s The video created with MP4 Box Gui is not readable :s "Error -2041 The sequence contains an invalid sample description"
It did the same thing when I tried to convert to MP4 with XMedia Recode...
I’m surely abusing your patience, but I plead with you to help me one more time (I hope for you and me, the last time) :s-
It's the inversion problem, I've never encountered this problem. Well, you said that in mp3 the sound is in the right direction. Use mkv merge, you put your video without its sound, then with the add key you add your audio track in mp3, then start muxing. You will recover a Matroska file. And then re-encode it with your 3g nano format. For mp4 box bizzard, have you tried opening your DVD with xmedia? It can also cut videos. P.S. No, you're not bothering me. Regards.
