Hello,
When I want to open certain PDF files (Pre-filled public service form for vehicle registration),
a message appears in English: "
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html"

However, I have Adobe Reader 10... and I have already removed previous versions installed on my computer using CCleaner...
If you have a solution, I’m all ears...
Thank you.

Hello,

The message indeed asks you to log in to Adobe to download the latest updated version, which is 10.0.1.
You can either choose this solution or uninstall Adobe Reader, which over time has become very bulky, and install Foxit Reader instead, which is just as good and weighs 12 MB.
WARNING, you will need the lang_fr_fr.xml file to have the translation in French.
Best regards

I deleted the file and then put it back on my hard drive, but now it won't open at all...
When I used the USB stick, it opened, but now it doesn't open even that way, I get the error message copied above.
This is the first time I've encountered problems with this type of file (all my other PDF files open correctly).
I asked an acquaintance to test this file, and it opens normally for him (Adobe 9.3...)

I forgot to mention that the file is not in direct access; it's a link to the file. I don't know if that helps...

Without going into details, you probably downloaded or received this file from a source, try to trace that source and download it again to check if you can read it with Foxit Reader.

The problem is right there, I installed the new version and the problem persists.
I was able to read the file on my girlfriend's computer, I copied it to a USB stick and then by connecting the stick to my computer the file opens...
I don't understand.

Hello,
I installed Foxit and set it to French...
I chose it as the default reader, but the same message keeps showing up

To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html

However, when I open another PDF document that is already on my computer, it opens with Foxit...

It seems like I'm having some problems...

Hello;
Have you completely and properly uninstalled Adobe Reader?

Hello,
Given what you are writing, it seems that your pdf file which started to cause problems is still continuing. I therefore think that the solution is to delete this document since you have a copy on a USB stick.
After that, check that your pdf readings are working well with Foxit (set as the default program), then copy your pdf file again from the USB stick to your hard drive and see if the problem persists.

I think the problem is solved. I went to the site monservicepublic.fr with my girlfriend's computer and... I couldn't open the file... I received the same message as on mine...
So I think the problem doesn't come from my beast^^...
In any case, with this story, I'm sticking with Foxit.
Thank you for your help and responsiveness!

You say the problem is solved, but I don’t see the solution: how did you manage to open the file in the end? I'm dealing with the same type of file (car sale form too) and I would like to be able to open it.
Is the latest version of Adobe Reader the only software that can open these documents? Evince shows me the page with the ad message for Adobe Reader...

In the top right corner of the page, there is a button "download with another PDF reader"
click it and it works by itself (actually, it's still Adobe that opens it, who knows why...)
