IPod Nano sleep/wake button stuck

Hello,
I have a 6th generation iPod Nano (the latest ones, with touch screens) but there's a problem: my power/sleep button is stuck and I can’t press it. I’ve tried everything to unstick it, but it remains pressed in. Could someone please tell me how to unstick it? Thank you.

    I have the same problem; the button on my iPod is stuck. I've tried everything to unlock it, but nothing works.
    And worse, my warranty has expired.

      Same for me, the first one had a guarantee but I got a second one and it's the same problem, and this time there's no guarantee!

      One might think that the button has a lifespan limit :(

    I had the same problem: the sleep button got stuck after a bump, and with my iPod's battery dead, I couldn't turn it back on.

    Here's how to solve this annoying issue: make a notch with a knife, a hacksaw, or a good file on the upper right corner of the sleep button until you manage to unstick the cursed button. With a bit of resourcefulness and perseverance, you'll succeed.

    It's a rather unorthodox solution, but it's still cheaper than buying a new mp3 player.

      A knife, a file, and I ejected that cursed button, because mine wasn't really stuck, but it was functioning in vain. A piece of tape to protect it from dust and it looks great!

      So you protect the entire iPod in a waterproof way except for the "on-off" button?

      A thousand thanks as well! For me, it was the hacksaw, a sharp knife, and patience; now the result is here: a slightly dented iPod that works!

    It's the same for me, and I'm really angry because it's the second time!
    The first time, Apple replaced it (clearly they don't know how to fix it either). And now the one they gave me as a replacement has frozen, after two weeks. It's the button to increase the volume...
    I'm starting to think it's really a scam...

      I don't think there is a solution. You need to go to your dealer so they can give you another one.

      little question my ipod does the same thing as you but I really have a problem because I dropped it and there is a crack on the screen can you give me some advice please ^^

      For those who had another iPod, was it still under warranty when they exchanged it for you? I've had mine for two years now and it's been two weeks since the button got stuck, and it's starting to weigh on me. Can they exchange it for me?
      Should I go to the Apple Store or tell my seller knowing that I bought it online?

    Hi, I’ve had my iPod for 2-3 years and I use it daily. A week ago, my button got stuck too, but I found a way to unlock it, using a corner of a table or wall and pushing diagonally on the button like a brute. It works for me, but in terms of practicality, we could have done better... Otherwise, I use my headphones to change music (one click for pause, two for next song, three for previous, and a long click for a voice to read the music (voice over), but I’m trying to find if I can change the last one by unlocking the screen).

    Hello,
    I had the same problem and I found a repairman who replaced the button for €39 with shipping costs. My iPod Nano was repaired for €45 and in less than a week because it wasn't on-site, but on-site it gets done in a day.

    Don't forget the 2-year European warranty now.
    I just contacted Apple about my 6th generation iPod nano with the stuck on/off button. It was 20 months old. Replacement planned for next week.

      Same for me, my power button works and the two volume buttons are stuck, but I managed to open it. You need to open the screen, meaning you have to take the right edge of the screen and force it open, but unfortunately, even from the inside, the button is stuck...

      I also have the same problem. However, I don't remember how long I've had this iPod (I need to look for the receipt), but I would like to know more about this 2-year European warranty. I want to know how you did it, if there's a procedure... I plan to buy the Nano 7 in the meantime because I can't stand not being able to choose songs... through a screen; it's unbearable for me, and even when my Nano 6 was still working perfectly, I wanted to change it, but I still want to see if repair or exchange is possible, even if I have to sell it afterwards.

    Outrageous,

    I haven't even had mine for two months (bought it on January 28, 2015) and on April 2, 2015, in the middle of a song, it just shut down by itself.

    I tried to plug it back in, but it won't reconnect.

    Thank goodness I still have my receipt and my warranty, but it's still really annoying.

    I experienced the same thing, but unfortunately I couldn't unlock it because my iPod is over a year old and Apple won't take it back. But you can still reactivate it by plugging in the power cable or if you listen to the radio and unplug the headphones, the screen will turn back on. That's all I can do for you.

      I work in marketing, for all those who ask if it's intentional, well yes. Because of this, Apple gets more repairs, and thus makes more money. The same goes for the iPhone 4 and 4s with the glass back: Apple makes products designed to be broken.

      For the iPhone, you need to go to "settings", "accessibility", "assistiveTouch" and turn it on. I have the same problem with the button, and at least with this I can lock it whenever I want :)

    Il faut juste appuyer sur les boutons du volume et votre iPod nano va se débloquer automatiquement, j'ai eu le même problème.

      Personally, I pressed all the buttons and it didn’t do anything at all. The on/off button is still stuck and the screen only turns on when plugged in...

    Hi, I had the same problem with an iPod nano; the power button doesn't trigger the on or off function anymore. That is, you can't even feel it pressing down, no pressure at all. So, I filed down the angle where the button is, as FJK suggested, I took out the button and now I can access the on-off control by pressing it with a toothpick. It's not very orthodox, indeed, but for those who don't want to buy a new MP3, it allows you to keep using the iPod!
