Invalid file

Solved

Hello,

A strange phenomenon is happening with my computer: all the files in a certain folder are invalid, while the same type of files work perfectly in the folder next door.

The affected files are in jpg, avi, pdf formats and even Notepad. They are located on another partition (not the Windows one), just like dozens of others that work perfectly in other folders.

I don't know if that's very clear...

I restored the system, and nothing changed. I removed the last installed software, just in case. Nothing. I cleaned the system. Nothing either. I'm a bit lost. Could someone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have another operating system on this partition? Or is it a system (OS) reinstallation partition?

Perhaps the folder where the "invalid" files are stored has a specific configuration...

Thank you for responding so quickly.

No, I don't have another system and it's not a system reinstall partition.

The thing is that the files from the other folders work. And on the same partition!!

    I don't understand.

Sorry, I'm running on XP Pro. I don't know if that could help move things forward.

no no, I'm not touching that. In fact, it's a sub-folder. I’m repeating myself, but the strange thing is that the other sub-folders in the same "family" work perfectly.

Of course, it's in that one that I have all the important stuff...

When I try to open one of the files, Windows blocks me (not available, no codec,...), when I try to move or delete them, it displays "impossible blabla: access denied."

Have you tried to copy them? (not move, copy)

It's either that they are being used somewhere or blocked... But how is this... No idea.

I had the same thought as you. These files helped me create a website. So I uninstalled the software to push my thinking to the max, but nothing.

I’m a bit frustrated because it represents dozens of hours of work.

I still hope to find a solution.

    Thank you.

Maybe the log is not uninstalled properly, reinstall it and then try transferring the files to the other partition... If it doesn't work, uninstall it cleanly with a program like CCleaner, clean the registry at the same time, and then try again.

    Have a great weekend!!

I found out where it comes from: Izispot, a basic website creation software. It's very nice and easy to use, but it messed up and corrupted all the files associated with the creation of the site. What a piece of crap! It feels good...

Now all that's left is to redo it.

    Thanks again.

Oh really... Indeed, it's a beautiful mess, but I should have thought of it... Best of luck then ^^
