You can possibly use the repair option by going to the list of installed programs and features = right-click on the program that is causing issues (there are often several for Office) then select the modify/repair function.

Regarding my issue, I changed %userprofile%appdata\local\microsoft\windows\tempory to c:\windows\temp, but nothing works; I'm still getting the same message: unable to create the working file, check the Temp environment variable. HELP!

I still have my problem, and it only concerns Word.
When I open Word, I can't even open the window anymore? A window appears and tells me via Microsoft Office Help Viewer: one or more help files installed have a problem. Repair your Office installation and try again. Additionally, I can't even save as a file when I create one.

It seems that when I open Word, a window appears stating: Word cannot open the existing file (normal). Then, when I try to save after typing text, nothing happens, and I can't save. When I decide to click on the cross, it asks me if I want to save, I click yes and nothing happens. So I click on the cross again and say no to the save message, the Word window turns blue, still with the taskbar, and when I click on the cross again, the message says: changes have been made to the normal global template. Do you want to save these changes? I click no and everything disappears. Although I have often tried clicking yes, it doesn't work. I also often get a message when closing a created Word file that warns me saying Microsoft Office Word is attempting to recover data. AND FINALLY, Excel also sometimes has a bug when I close it using the cross, with the same message: Microsoft Office is attempting to recover... That's it!!!!! I'm having a big headache.

Well, I see that nobody has any ideas, but for those who might encounter this issue, if you can't open a Word file because it is damaged or anything else, you can recover your files by doing: start, then in search you type wordpad, then in file and open you search for your file and there you go, you recover your data. But keep in mind that if Word doesn’t work, you won’t be able to save it in WordPad and RTF because the opening is done through Word, and if that is damaged, it won’t open it, so saving as plain text, you can thus recover your file, maybe with the correct formatting, but at least retrieve the whole thing, if it's a very long text that is say 50 pages.
