[black screen after resolution change]

Solved

Hello,
My resolution was 1280*1024 pixels, I increased the screen resolution, I hit enter, and then a black screen appeared.
I thought the screen would remain for a few seconds, so I waited, but it stayed black permanently!
I restarted it using the keyboard, the BIOS analysis took place, I saw the Windows loading, but at the moment the welcome message appeared, bam, the screen went black again!
I can't get rid of it.
I checked, using the button on my screen, what resolution I was in, and to my surprise, it was 800*600!
Now I still have the black screen, I can't get rid of it and I would like to know if anyone has a solution to offer me
Configuration: I have Windows XP SP2, a Samsung SyncMaster 913 monitor, and two nVidia graphics cards with SLI technology

I had the same problem, here’s what I did
- restarted in safe mode (by pressing the F8 key at startup)
- restored the system to an earlier date (I didn't know how to reset the video settings)

and there you go

I have the same problem. I turn on my PC and my screen is black. This happened after changing the resolution.

Good evening,
Start in safe mode, reset your video settings and restart, it should work.

Hello, I didn't really have the same issue. Mine is the screen that broke! But try using an HDMI cable to connect your computer to your TV and reset your settings!

I had this problem, you need to unplug your computer from the wall socket and press the power button on the tower for at least 10 seconds, then plug it back in and turn on the PC. There you go, it's resolved.

Hello, which connection are you talking about? Because I changed my screen resolution and when I restart, I see the boot screen but when I get to the password menu, there's no signal to the PC.

Here, my main screen is telling me that for a maximum resolution, I need to set it to 1900x1080... However, this resolution is not being offered to me...
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Because right now I'm at 1152x864 and it looks really bad...

or if it's not offered, click on advance and dig a little, you'll find it.

Hello,
I have already read your responses regarding solutions to resolve the black screen issue after a bad screen resolution. The problem is that when I enter safe mode, the only thing I can do is press enter without having made any changes as no settings adjustments are offered to me.
If someone has an answer to this or even better a solution, thank you in advance!!

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.5.9

I tried all your tricks in vain. But by going to properties with a right-click, I simply changed the compatibility mode to XP SP3. (I'm on Win 8) and it worked.

I just had the same problem with Seven after an update that uninstalled my Nvidia driver. I pressed F8 at startup, and it asked for Safe Mode, but if you scroll down, it offers you to start in Low Resolution mode. Do that and reinstall your graphics driver, and it's back to normal.
