[printer] status: paused

Hello,
I have a PC running XP. There are two printers connected to the computer (one via USB and the other on the LPT1 port). The printer on the LPT1 port is in a paused state and is not printing. How can I set it to "ready" (like the other one)? I think that is the problem since the printer has printed during the self-test and reacts (moves the carriage?) when the computer is turned on.
Could you please give me the steps to follow?
Thank you for reading and for any help you can provide.
Louis.

Have you gone to the control panel to find your printer?
Then select the printer and right-click.
    A drop-down menu appears.
Check that "Pause Printing" is not checked.

Thank you very much dear Blandine, the "suspend printer" option was checked (I don't know why!), so I unchecked it and it's working, yay! Thanks again
