Hi,
I bought an AMD Athlon II X4 640 3000MHz, 4GB of RAM, and the ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 motherboard.

I connect everything, I start the PC, the 4 cores power up, and once I get to the Windows XP installation... a little sound rings out and it sends me back to the beginning?? I can't find the problem, do you have any ideas?

Thanks a lot.

If you have a manual with the motherboard, check it because there should be instructions regarding any issues.

Well, I've checked the connections, everything seems fine, I can boot into Windows in safe mode but it doesn't change anything... the CD that comes with the motherboard is not being read... the BIOS is set to default, I don't think I need to adjust anything. I can't find any solutions, I keep looking for the error.

Windows is an OEM license because XP can only be installed once on a PC, except in the case of a multiple license. Try booting from the drive with XP and performing a repair; there may be an issue with the boot sequence of XP.

Hi, so I installed Windows XP on my hard drive about 3-4 hours ago and I tested and updated it on my other PC, there were no problems. It's only on this one that it doesn't want to work. Is there a way to get Windows to boot properly or should I resign myself to paying a professional?

Have you installed it on another motherboard? I'm not surprised because the boot wasn't written on the new board. Simply launch the XP CD at startup, and instead of doing an installation, choose repair. I think that should work.

I tried, it didn't work. Additionally, when running Windows XP, the program stops in the middle and a blue screen appears, it scrolls too quickly for me to read it :// and the startup restarts... I no longer have the option for safe mode... I'm going to format it directly.

if you format do it well on the new motherboard if there are still error messages it means there is a hardware problem.
Finally, I hope everything goes well.

blue screen of death, it seems like it might be the RAM...! are you sure your RAM is compatible with your motherboard?

otherwise, you need to format your computer with your new components and reinstall!

then you can also try updating the BIOS!

Hi, and thank you for your follow-up.
So, I formatted it, I can boot into Windows normally, but the support CD still doesn't work. I tested it on my other PC and it activates just fine. As for the RAM, it's fine (ddr3) because I bought a kit. I still can't get past Windows...

Hey again, I unplugged everything, plugged it all back in, and it's still the same, I can't get past the Windows startup... I can go into safe mode but right now I'm really frustrated, I don't have a solution. Plus, my little blue screen doesn't show up anymore.
So, I'm going to ask someone to come and check the PC.
I'll keep you updated.
