HP dv5000 black screen

Hello,

I would like to have a confirmation regarding a HP Pavilion dv5000 laptop.

The screen is completely black.
When I connect a VGA cable to the laptop, the external screen works fine, and so does the laptop.
I disassembled the LCD screen to check the connections, and the problem disappeared; the screen worked again.
An hour later, the problem returned, and I can barely see the HP logo during startup.
So I think the issue might be related to the high voltage power supply, and not the screen!
Could you please confirm this for me?
If it is indeed the high voltage power supply, where can we find one? Only at HP?
Or are there generic ones available that can be found at any good electronics retailer?

Thank you very much

Have a nice day

Configuration: Windows Vista & Ubuntu; AMD 64 x 2: ATI HD 5770
2GB RAM

Actually, after several tests, I have doubts about the THT!
Because I notice a slight dark image when I turn on the computer, but it's as if it lacks lighting.
So, could it be the LCD screen?
