Good evening,

I want to connect my multimedia hard drive to my PC using an RJ45 cable instead of USB.

1) Is that possible? Will the transfer speed be acceptable?
2) I only have one RJ45 port on my motherboard and it's occupied by the box. Can I use an RJ45 hub to connect both the box and the multimedia hard drive to the PC?

Thank you for your help! :)

    Hi,

First, your media disk needs to have an RJ45 port.

Then, instead of connecting it to the PC, it's better to connect it to your ADSL box, which will assign it an IP address and allow you to access the disk over the network. Or if your box is on a 100 Mbps Ethernet and your PC and disk are both on gigabit Ethernet, then get a gigabit Ethernet switch, connect it to your box, and link your PC and disk to the switch.

    Best regards
