Hello,

I'm going to format my hard drive, but first I'd like to recover my backups for The Sims 2. Is it possible? If so, which files do I need to copy?

Thank you in advance
Configuration: Win ME

Normally, in your "documents" folder, there is a subfolder named EA Games. This subfolder should contain all your sims, your houses, etc.

Salut !!

kiki, it's as simple as Kiourn said: double click on "My Documents" on your desktop, then you'll find a folder named "EA Games." Double-click on it, and you'll find another folder named "The Sims 2." Copy and paste it onto another hard drive than the one you’re formatting. If you have a second hard drive, move this folder to the second hard drive; otherwise, an external hard drive is the only possibility that could save you. Once the folder is retrieved, you can format your drive peacefully. Once you've re-installed The Sims 2, place the folder back in its original location (C:\Documents and Settings\*your desktop*\My Documents\EA Games) and put the folder named "The Sims 2" that you recovered here. Launch your game, and you will find all your families, houses, and saves as if you had never formatted.

Salut, I made a backup copy of The Sims 2 and pasted it onto an external hard drive during my last formatting. Then I reinstalled The Sims 2 plus the ADD discs and another copy-paste of my backup from the external hard drive onto my computer, and it didn't work. Can you tell me why???

I want to reinstall The Sims 2 to add the deluxe version, but I would like to be able to resume my previous game saves. How can I do that?

Hey!
So before reinstalling The Sims, you first need to uninstall them -_-'
To do that, it's simple: Start menu > all programs > EA Games > The Sims 2 > and then uninstall by the expansion pack, either The Sims 2 the very first one (but I'm not sure if that works)
However, if you want to keep your families, you need to look in, as we mentioned before, My Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Neighborhoods > your neighborhood number (n001 Montsimpa, n002 Zarbville, n003 Veronnaville), but that's really complicated because there are the numbers for all the houses -_-'
So either you save your entire neighborhood, or you try (with the caveat that this might not work) to delete from your game the houses you don't use, and keep only the ones you want.
Hope that helps!!
Bye!

Thank you Clems. I've given up and lost my backups for a while now, but I'll remember that for next time!

Hello, I installed all the expansion packs of The Sims 2, and once that was done, in buy mode, I have plenty of items without images, and it says "no pic" instead. How can I recover them? Help ^^'

I have a similar problem, I reformatted my hard drive but for now I still have the old drive and a new one.
I did as I read, copy and paste the EA GAMES folder but it doesn't work!!!
And on my old hard drive, I can't find the old Sims installed, is that normal??
When I try to launch my CD, it tells me that I need to install The Sims 2 and then my other CD.
Please help me!!!

Hello, I have The Sims 2 along with all the expansion packs, and I am about to change computers. I would like to keep all my Sims data. I have an external hard drive, and I tested copying the "EA GAMES" folder to this hard drive. I plugged it into another computer, but when I tried to play, I couldn't find my saved data on the hard drive. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone!

After searching on Google, I found you and I admit I need the insights that roam here to help me out of a tough spot ^^'

Actually, I had to delete some house files because apparently one of them (or several) makes the game crash quite regularly as soon as the neighborhood I created (and filled with houses downloaded here and there) is loaded by the game.
I'm reaching out to you to indicate how to find exactly the folders to back up (those containing the lot saves, and thus the families already installed in specific houses and neighborhoods) because before going through my "downloads" file, I would like to transplant these few "parties" into another neighborhood to be sure it’s not one of them causing these incessant reboots.

I'll be waiting for your suggestions, thanks in advance ;)

if you're talking about recovering a backup after uninstallation, it's not possible
otherwise, you just need to copy the savedsims and neighborrow files from the ea games folder to a CD

Hello, I would like to know which file the houses are in. I want to get one of the houses that my sister created, but I don't know which one is the right one... and if I can put it on my PC since I have already installed The Sims 2.
Thank you in advance =)

Hello!
I copied my files to another hard drive before uninstalling my Sims, but I don’t know what, where, or how to copy them so I can use them again. I understand that I need to copy the saved Sims and Neighborhoods. But since I have the expansions from University to Pets, I’m not sure where to copy them! Should it be into The Sims 2? Or into my most recent expansion pack (Pets)?
Thank you very much!!

Where to copy the EA GAMES folder? Because I have it in the EA GAMES folder for The Sims 2, then what to do? I don't understand because I can't find anything in my Sims, not even the original neighborhoods :/

You need to find the user data folder for The Sims 1 and The Sims 2; it’s the folder for saving families, houses, etc.
But for downloads, it’s "download" for The Sims 2, but for The Sims 1, I can’t remember!!!

My blue CD of The Sims 2 is cracked from the center; I think it’s a defect from them because it has happened to me more than once with The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. However, I would need a photocopy of a proof of purchase for the original game (I lost it). If you have one, please send it to:
xxxxxx@hotmail.com

Thanks!!

Hello, thank you for replying. I can't find the user data and, of course, that's the most important! I'm sorry that I can't send you a photocopy of the Sims invoice in exchange because the one I have was given to me.

Hello,
I also invested in the Sims 2 game for Christmas. Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I lost all my data; the problem is that I misplaced the user manual that had the installation key; would it be possible for you to send me the key from your manual: a seller from "Boulanger" assures me that the CD can work with a key from the same game!
I have doubts but I would like to try!
Thank you in advance

Here is the code for The Sims 2, and yes, it works for all the same CDs: EG7X.HEV6.47YH.ZHF8.GATP.

Hello, I have a little problem, I wanted to install the Family Fun Pack but apparently I needed to place it in a different folder than The Sims 2, so when I tried to start The Sims 2 it didn't work. So I uninstalled the Family Fun Pack but I have to reinstall The Sims 2 first for both to work again! However, I don't want to restart my game but I can't find my saves on the PC even after following various tips on the forum. I've tried looking in the EAGames save... nothing, nothing, nothing, I'm really frustrated!!!!! Where are the saves???? They must be somewhere since before I installed the pack when I started The Sims 2 I would return to the saved game!!!! Thank you for helping me!!

Hello !!
I often play The Sims and I installed The Sims 2 Bon Voyage, but it doesn't work well... So I want to uninstall it, but I don't want to lose my other saves, so I'm going to try to do as you suggest. But the thing is, when I double-click on the file in the saved games, it says "unknown or damaged file"... Is that normal? Will it change anything if I just copy and paste it??
Thanks for replying!

Hello, I had a game bug, meaning I can't access the districts (I won't go into details). I just wanted to thank you because at least on this forum we find answers to our questions XD (I asked the question on the official one and got nothing =p )

I know, I know, I'm off-topic...
