Hello everyone,
I have a huge problem with my TV, ahhh horrible, help me!!! (cruel world)
Model:
TV THOMSON BLACKPEARL, remote control: RCT 100 NAVILIGHT
No idea about the exact model, I don't have a manual, it seems old (CRT, a real old school thing). It's just written: THOMSON BLACKPEARL on it and RCT 100 NAVILIGHT on the remote.
Symptoms:
The television no longer turns on, and the red light at the bottom of the screen blinks regularly (not 2x then 7x, it blinks constantly in the same way). So I have a black screen, no static, despite a small noise at startup resembling the sound of CRT tubes lighting up, with just the blinking light.
Circumstances:
Usually, I only used my remote to turn off the TV (which is connected to a FREEBOX so the FREEBOX was used to change channels and the TV just to turn on). I couldn't turn on the TV with the remote so I did it using the P+ button at the bottom of the screen. However, I could turn it off (handy so I wouldn't have to get up to turn it off ;p). But the problem: tonight I wanted to try turning it on with the remote, so I tried pressing the power button (sometimes the power button turns it off but also serves to turn on the TVs) and since then, I have this red blinking light and nothing else is possible.
I have searched on numerous forums, I saw 2 people with the same problem without a real answer.
I unplugged the TV for 15 minutes, no results, it's still the same: it blinks and is stuck. I found codes to enter, I thought maybe I could enter them blindly, but I didn’t get any results either.
I don’t know the chassis of the TV.
So, you know everything!
If the symptoms sound familiar to you, I would be very grateful!
Tom

Did your TV repairman find the issue and manage to ensure that the problem doesn't come back?
A few years ago, I had a Thomson TV repaired, but after a few days, the problem reappeared, so I'm hesitant to take my television to a repair shop. I had the same experience with a Philips model from the '80s with less sophisticated electronics, and I encountered the same reliability issue with the repair.
I always have a hard time throwing away a device that will clutter our landfills or pollute Africa when it can still last a few more years.
Moreover, I don't like buying new products that aren't made to last.
