THOMSON 28 W TV Power On Issue

Question

Hello,
I have a THOMSON 28 WF 25 EG television since 2003 (and I have lost the manual). While I'm watching television, it turns off by itself, and the "red" light indicating that the TV is on standby starts blinking for a few moments before remaining on, and this happens several times in a row. When I try to turn it back on with the remote, the TV does not turn on.
This morning, it’s worse because it won’t turn on at all.
Could anyone tell me if this has happened to them before? Is it repairable? or not.

Well, the same goes for mine.

It is important...
At first, I couldn't turn it on without a "preheating" of about ten minutes (I turn it on, but nothing happens, then I turn it off and on again while removing the power cable.)
And now, this trick no longer works.

Hi, I have a 32" Thomson TV and I'm experiencing exactly the same problem! Several sites seem to indicate that it could be a cold solder joint issue, but I'm still searching.

I have a similar problem. The TV suddenly turned off, and when I plug it back in, I hear a very short hiss, but nothing happens.

Hi everyone, well I also have the same problem as you, your Thomson LCD TV turns off suddenly. I want to turn it back on immediately but it doesn't work, sometimes there's a faint buzzing, sometimes nothing. I let it rest for a few minutes and it turns back on for a few minutes then turns off again. So if you have any answers, if someone has had it repaired, how much did it cost? I also have a Thomson TV 28WF 25EG and I've been having this problem since yesterday. It turns off by itself at first. Once it's “warmed up,” it doesn't do it anymore. It turns back on by itself, but sometimes the red light also blinks.
Anyway, not being a mechanic at all, I'm going to take it to a repair shop next week.
Of course, I will ask for a quote, just in case...
Does anyone have an answer to the problem??

Hi, I know your message is a bit old but I just experienced the exact same problem. I put my TV on standby and since then I can't turn it back on; whenever I press the power button, it blinks for a moment and then stops. I have had this TV for a long time and I've lost the remote control along with the manual. I would like to know if you managed to fix your TV and if so, how?
