Hello,
This morning, Windows Update offered me the installation of a mysterious update: KB976902.
The fact that the information about this update was in English made me doubt, and I clicked on "more information." There, I came across a blank page on the Microsoft support site indicating that there was no information on KB976902.
A search on Google showed me that this update puzzled a lot of people. It appears to be a preparation for the installation of Windows 7 SP1. But what’s strange is that it is indicated that once installed, it would no longer be possible to remove it.
So what? Virus? Anti-crack update? Real update?
In doubt, I won’t install it.
If anyone has information, I’m curious to learn more about what some sites are calling "the black hole update"!
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.8

I installed this update today, PC rebooted and strictly no anomalies detected, no problem with the genuine. (Windows 7 Ultimate x64)
-
I'm also hesitant to install this update that Windows is suggesting.
-
When in doubt, abstain.

Okay, but if I turn off my PC, will the update install? Because on the "shut down" icon, there's a symbol indicating that updates are ready to install. So should I hide it?
Actually, the update would be to allow the installation of the RC or SP1 of Seven when it comes out. -
It depends if you have configured Windows Update to update automatically or manually.

They only read the description, no one knows exactly what this update is.
Maybe it's a protection or anti-crack verification for Seven licenses. -
Hello everyone
I installed the update yesterday and no issues so far.

First of all, I make sure I have looked everywhere
and especially when my problem is resolved, I mark my question as solved. -
HELLO, I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS UPDATE; WHEN WINDOWS TRIES TO INSTALL IT, IT TELLS ME THAT IT CAN'T AND THE ERROR CODE IS 800719F3.

Hello
Since this update, I have a problem with my PC:
no fullscreen video (I only have sound, no image), so fullscreen gaming is dead...
And no Windows games (same, I have sound but it's all black)...
So I performed a restore to a date when everything was working. It works very well, then Windows updates again, and it crashes. I then uninstalled the updates one by one to see which one was causing the issue. The only one left is this mysterious KB97692, so I deduce that the problem comes from there, but I can't uninstall it.
I then perform another restore, and order Windows to "let me choose which updates to install," but it still installs updates automatically. If you know how to prevent that, I'm all ears.
However, it seems that this update also fixed the hibernation issue for me (to be verified). -
This update is really crap; ever since it was installed, updates go into Automatic mode even though I DISABLED updates during the installation!
