(The video player) The screen is green!?! Solved/Closed

Question

Hello everyone

So my different video players are working, but I only get a green screen on some (VLC), or a smaller split screen that doesn’t take up all the available space and is customized in purple with a halo effect on Windows Media Player.

It looks a bit like a psychedelic clip from the '70s.

I have absolutely no idea where this is coming from; has anyone else experienced this problem?

Phew, I finally managed to solve this problem:
Open Windows Media Player, Tools, Options, then in the Performance tab, click at the bottom on Advanced options and uncheck the box "Use a video mixing renderer"

It worked for me!

The green screen is symptomatic of a missing codec or the installation of an inappropriate new codec that has replaced one that was working very well. The video itself has nothing to do with it; it's the codec that the media player uses to play videos.

Bravo ! This has been months now that I have a green screen problem. I have all the bells and whistles, WMP issues, missing codecs, etc. and have tried all the solutions that were proposed to me. I just performed the maneuver you suggested and, miracle (which I hope is lasting), I can now see the images from videos on websites and not just settle for a green screen...with sometimes sound. Before celebrating victory, I am eagerly waiting for a live broadcast of the quinté because it was on the PMU site that I noticed the problem one day, without having touched anything. However, one oddity, on Monday evening, when performing a test, I had images on several sites, but Tuesday morning, the green screen was back even though I hadn't touched anything in between (computers make me anxious and I am totally useless at it). What should one think of this phenomenon? In any case, a thousand thanks.

After unchecking the "use a video mixing converter" in video acceleration, the green screen issue persisted, sometimes even briefly displaying the video upside down. By unchecking the 3 boxes of the "classic converter," no more green screen! Phew! If that can help...

Hi everyone. I also have a green video issue. Not on my computer, but on my mother's one that I'm currently setting up. There are two media players installed: VLC and Power DVD. When I am logged in as an administrator, the video image works correctly. However, when I am logged in as a user with limited rights, the image is green in the videos. I installed Windows Media Player and followed the steps described here, but it doesn't change anything; the image remains green.

I browsed through the English forums and finally found out where the problem came from. In case it interests someone, here's how to do it in the previously described case and for all ASUS graphics card users with an NVidia chip:
-right-click on the desktop, click properties, click settings, click advanced
Then in the NVidia options (this may display very differently from one driver version to another) there is a checked box that says "enable video splendid" (I'm not 100% sure about the term as I’m using an American version). ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNCHECK THE BOX.
What’s amusing (or not) is that by default on my mother's computer, this box was unchecked as an administrator but checked for user accounts.

Hello!   I have the same issue but I can't do what Antoine suggested because I have the Vista version and there is no "use a video mixer converter"...  However, I found that by going to Enhancement and selecting Video Settings, I just needed to adjust the hue slider to around yellow. It might not be the traditional method and could just be tweaking, but it works.  The problem is that I have to readjust it every time I play a video... over time it's more than annoying and also when I record a video from the webcam, there's no way to change the hue again!  I'm not an expert... far from it, so if anyone has a solution!   Thanks in advance.

If it helps, I had this problem and using BS Player, I went to options -> preferences -> video -> video rendering tab and in the video rendering mode I set "internal RGB rendering" and that solved the problem.

Well, you should try another program. Do a Google search and you'll find it. If your MP4 does the same thing with another synchronization program like Emodio, it means it's done for. If it doesn't work properly anymore, check if you have a warranty!

MANIP---> Under xP, Start, Control Panel, Nvidia control panel, then in the Video tab go to adjust video color settings, FINALLY you will see 2: How to adjust colors. Check "with Nvidia settings" and transcribe the following settings: brightness 50%, contrast 50%, hue 100% and saturation 100%.
After applying this setting, the green or purple tint disappears from all players and for any users.

Hello,

After reinstalling everything on XP, my videos in VLC were replaced by a green screen.
I had installed CCCP and ACE Codec Pack, but it didn’t help. I installed K-lite, which removed CCCP and ACE in the process, but that didn’t work either.

In VLC, go to Tools->Preferences->Video, check Display and in the dropdown menu for Output: choose something other than default and save.
There you go, it’s back to normal.
The procedure is similar in BS-Player.

I had the same issue: resolved: right-click on the desktop, graphics card control panel, then adjust the video and/or TV settings, then check "with the video player's settings" and NOT with the graphics card settings;  if previously the graphics card settings have been changed or forced, the video image is green or blue   See you!

For me, the solution was to go to the Nvidia control panel, then "Adjust video color settings" and check "With the video player settings"  On 64-bit Windows 7, if that helps.

I had this green screen issue with VLC (version 2.1.12) only on Orange's HD TV streams (it was fine on SD streams). Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs and disable hardware decoding. And there you go!
