Hello
Here is my problem, which I am trying to present as clearly as possible:
I have an EPSON "Perfection 1660 PHOTO" scanner that I have been completely satisfied with for nearly 8 years.
On the other hand, I have just acquired a new PC with Windows 7.
Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not recognize my scanner.
On the advice of a computer-savvy friend, who tried in vain to find a driver to solve my problem, I downloaded "VUE SCAN" from HAMRICK.COM.
This software would satisfy me, but: The "trial" version prints a "dollar" sign as a watermark on documents, and the full version is sold for 30.00 euros.
Does anyone have a more affordable practical solution to suggest?
Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows 7 / Safari 534.3

Hello,
For those who are searching and as a reminder, here’s how to install your Epson 1660 Photo scanner on Windows 7 64-bit:
1. Download the Windows 7 64-bit driver for Epson 2400 here: ftp://ftp.epson.com/drivers/epson12180.exe
2. Run the executable and select a destination folder.
3. Simultaneously press: Windows key + Pause (System Properties)
4. Click on: Device Manager
5. Right-click on "ESPON Scanner" -> Properties -> Driver -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer -> Let me pick ... -> Show all devices
6. Click Next
7. Click I have disk -> Browse
8. Select the folder where you extracted the drivers in point 2.
9. Select "Es3e" -> open -> ok
10. Select the model "Epson Perfection 2400" -> Next
11. Accept the security alert (update driver warning) by clicking Yes
Your Epson 1660 Perfection scanner is functional!
(recognized as Epson 2400 Perfection)
I also recommend the iCopy software which will allow you, in addition to direct copying to a printer, to perform all backup tasks (including saving in JPG and PDF format).
Have a great day :-) !
P.S.: owning an English version of Windows 7 64-bit, the translation into French may differ a little! -
Hello KERRUN,
There is a very simple and well-made tool available on Windows 7.
To access it, go to:
1. Start (the Windows "orb" at the bottom left), then "All Programs," and finally "Windows Fax and Scan."
2. Once the program is launched, you can click on "New Scan," and the computer will automatically connect to the scanner.
Best regards.

Kerrun,
I meant when the "Windows Fax and Scan" program is launched.
Could you describe what happened when you clicked on "New Scan"?
Was there an attempt to connect to the scanner? Is it a network scanner? Or is it directly connected to the machine?
Best regards.

Thank you InformaticiA for responding quickly.
I tried... it didn't work!
Maybe I didn't understand everything.
What do you mean by "When the program is launched"?
It's not easy to help an old stubborn one!
Thanks in advance

When I activated "New Scan," a window appeared saying "No scanner detected, please check that your scanner is powered on and connected to your computer and try again."
My scanner is directly connected to my PC and it is powered on.
It's quite an old scanner (around 8 years old).
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Download and install the driver for Vista --> epson31879eu.exe, sometimes it works.

Kerrun,
The best thing to do is to use the latest drivers and utilities available on the Epson website:

I remain at your disposal.
Sincerely.

Thank you anyway.
The Epson site has already been explored by my cyber guru. The problem, if I understand correctly, is that my PC runs on 64 bits. This is where, I believe, he found VUESCAN.
I think I'm going to come to terms with it...

I'm looking for the drivers and the TWAIN... for Epson Performance 1660 Photo and Windows 7...
On the Epson eSupport site, they say that drivers for Windows 7 do not exist and the TWAIN 5 they claim is compatible does not work because I am on 64 bits
Should I throw my scanner away? -
Good evening
As for me, I ended up getting an "Epson V330 Photo"* and gave my other Epson to a friend who works on Windows XP
I was indeed fed up experimenting with increasingly unreliable solutions!
And my friend has been using it almost every day since, and she's happy with it...
So, since everyone is happy! what reason do I have to complain?
*Bought from "Grosbill", not too expensive, and I am perfectly satisfied.
