Hello,

Hello everyone.
So, let me introduce myself (I’ll warn you right away that I am a 67-year-old grandmother), I just bought a WDTV LIVE and apart from the WD icon in the middle of the screen with WD TV Live HD Media Player underneath, nothing is happening. The player is blinking but that's it and the remote control isn't responding. Can anyone help me, please? Thank you and have a good weekend.

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.10

    Hi Gigi,

I returned the product yesterday at Boulanger, and they replaced it right away. When I got home, OH miracle, the product turns on just fine!
So it was indeed a hardware issue. I reconnected everything the same way, and now there's no problem.

You just need to go back to the store!

Otherwise, the product seems really nice. I haven't had much time to test everything, but it looks good.

    Good luck!

Thank you. It lifts my spirits. I thought I was useless... I'll send it back and ask for a replacement. I'll keep you updated. Regards.

Hello, we're not old at 67. Are there batteries in the remote and are they in the right direction?

Hi Pitchoune. No, I don't feel old. Proof is that I got on the internet lol. Yes, the batteries are in the remote and in the right direction. This "technical" side is handled by my husband, and he knows a lot about it. Thank you for replying so quickly.
That being said, it doesn't solve my problem, so if you have any other answers, please don't hesitate. Everything has been done according to the manuals, and I wonder if it might be a defect in the player??

I’ve never had this kind of device with the user manual; you’re not getting by.

But everything was done according to the user manual, yet nothing works. We've redone the connections, reinstalled them, put them back, still nothing. Aside from the WD logo on the TV, the remote still doesn't respond. I think I'm going to call customer service on Monday and send the player back for an exchange.
Now, if someone has had the same problem and managed to solve it, I would like to know how they did it.
    Thank you, Pitchoum.

    Hello
on mine, the logo appears during initialization (45 seconds) then the menu appears.
maybe you could change the batteries?
another thing, if you press the red button on the remote, the WD live should turn off (light on the box) this allows you to see if the remote is responding or not.

    Hello,

Santa also brought me this media player and I'm having the same symptoms... The power light is blinking (not just for 45 seconds!) and the remote control isn't responding... It's impossible to turn it off once it's plugged in.
I've tried it with a connected hard drive, without it, with the network cable, then without... Nothing works!
I do see the WD logo on my TV.

I think it's a hardware issue, I'm taking it back tonight hoping they can swap it out quickly!
I'll keep you posted to let you know if the new box works.

    Talk soon

Hello, well I have the same problem, the same day. It's blinking. The remote control doesn't respond. No reaction when I plug in a USB stick. I've been getting frustrated for 2 hours. The manual says: wait ten minutes if it’s blinking. I waited (with my little bunch of calm). Nothing. I'm going to whistle on the hill to calm down...

I sent the device back to the seller (Techmania, in Switzerland), requesting an exchange. They replied that they would send it for... repair and that I would have to wait 2-3 weeks. A month later, I'm worried. Finally, I'm told that the importer does not repair and no longer delivers these devices... They offer to refund my purchase, which I accepted. Now, the question is: do these devices often have a technical problem? Is it worth ordering another one elsewhere? Do your devices still work? Thank you for your answers.
