Epson Perfection 1240U Scanner Installation

Hello,
I just bought a computer with Windows XP.
I previously had Windows 98SE.
I can't install my scanner.
It's an Epson Perfection 1240U.
Apparently, there are only drivers for Windows 98 and 2000.
What can I do?

    Hello,
    I bought a new PC with Windows 7 and I can't get my scanner to work, even though it works perfectly under 98, XP, and Vista. I tried downloading the drivers from Epson but nothing works; my computer keeps telling me there are no drivers associated with the scanner, and when I run a search through Windows Update, it finds nothing. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you in advance.

    A simple question: have you installed Smart Panel for XP for the scanner to work?

    I have an Epson 1240U scanner that works very well under XP (Home). This is version 1 of Epson Smart Panel (2000) and Epson Twain Rev.5.0a (1999).
    My problem is finding a driver for this scanner that works under Vista! I went and downloaded from the Epson website (https://epson.com/:
    TWAIN 5 Driver v5.71A
    Windows Vista 32-bit Edition
    epson12242.exe - 6.9MB - posted on 03/23/07
    but it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea? Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
    I have an Epson 1240U scanner that works well with XP Home
    except for photo printing.
    I place a negative slide on the premium paper scanner, size 10x15
    and then I get the message: unable to detect an image during pre-scanning.
    Or I get the scan, then the printer starts, but there’s no image on the glossy paper 10x15, just a pink shadow.

    I can't get an Epson Perfection 1240U scanner to work under XP

    recurring message: epson scan cannot be started; please open the troubleshooting assistant;
    Then: "unable to access the scanner because another application is using it"....

    I tried the "patch" new soft already recommended with no other result than: "the epson scan panel directory" does not exist...

    Aaaargh! Help!

    Hello

    I have exactly the same problem! I installed the software copy factory 4.0, and it won't start either! When I launch it, the system tells me that my scanner (which is recognized in the device manager) is not connected.
    However, Epson guarantees the compatibility of the twain 5.7 driver and copy factory with the 1240U scanner.
    Does anyone have the solution? Thanks in advance

    I have exactly the problem mentioned by others: everything works with my EPSON Perfection 1240U/PHOTO under Windows XP except the SLIDE function. The scanner does not recognize the slides as separate images, so I have to cut each image separately.

    Is there already a solution? Thank you for letting me know.
