my ps3 turns off on its own

Hello,

When I play on my PS3 Slim, it shuts down by itself, even the red light turns off, so I unplug it and plug it back in but the same problem occurs, it turns off again and it happens all the time, so I wanted to know how to resolve this issue.

I had the same problem; apparently it's caused by a known issue on the PS3 (slim or not, it's the same) called YLOD (for Yellow Light Of Death). Essentially, it's nothing more than overheating of the console's processor. It is equipped with a thermal fuse that shuts down the console in case of overheating. To keep it simple, it’s that famous thermal fuse that stays in safety mode and turns off the console after a few minutes (or even a few seconds in some cases). There are two solutions: either Sony's customer service, but that's quite long..... or you can do it yourself, but you'll need some equipment and a lot of calm... I'm leaving a link to a tutorial for those who are interested....

Hi, I have a PS3 Slim 320 GB and it turns off by itself, but not all the time, only on certain games. When it turns off, I just have to turn it back on normally, but then it turns off again, and I've only had it for 2 weeks, so it's really frustrating!!!

SONY engages in planned obsolescence, which is a program that gives a lifespan to the PS3. For example, SONY released the PS3 Slim some time ago, then the 40GB, followed by the 60GB, etc. On certain PS3 models, this program was installed for a lifespan of... it could be 1, 2, or 3 years, but often much less. This allows them to profit at our expense once the warranty has expired. If you want to know more, just search for planned obsolescence on any website and you'll see that they don't care about us.

Hello, as far as I'm concerned, I had the same problem as you and I consulted a repair shop (80 euros) to fix the faulty part (my fan, I believe). Since then, it's been holding up really well, no more bugs, and the fan in question seems to be performing better. There you go, have a good day!
