PC + TV = Écran bleu de la mort

Hello everyone,

I am here today to inquire about a recurring and very annoying problem.
First, let's talk about the hardware:

PC: Asus P7P55D motherboard, i5 750 2.67GHz processor, Ati HD 5870 1GB graphics card, 8GB RAM, 650W power supply.

TV: Sony Bravia KDL 32Ex402 screen (LCD). 81cm or 32 inches.

Since the acquisition of the television is recent, I decided to buy an HD product to watch my movies from the computer on the television. So I purchased a 5-meter gold-plated HDMI cable.
I turn on the display on the TV via the Catalyst Control Center when I want to watch a movie.
I use VLC to play my movies (but this isn’t really important).

The problem is that intermittently, the television switches to a blue hue with shades of violet. The issue occurs whether a movie is playing or not and lasts for varying durations. It can last 15 minutes or as little as half a second before returning to normal.
The color change only happens on the information sent by the PC. What I mean is that if I open a settings menu on the television during the bug, the menu retains its normal colors.
To return to normal without waiting, I just need to switch to another source (HDMI or otherwise) and go back to HDMI 1 (the one to which the PC is connected).
Understand that this is not irreversible, but who wants to switch sources 2, 3, or even 10 times per movie due to such a problem?!

I found only one post about this issue. It resolved itself (this sort of thing only happens to others). It can be found here: http://forum.generation-nt.com/materiels-divers/probleme-couleur-bleu-tv-svp-218231/
(If advertising to other forums/sites is forbidden, please understand that this is not and that the link is important).

To not do things halfway, I waited for the bug to appear to take a photo! Quite sneaky! Here’s what it looks like:

And here’s what it should look like:

The problem could stem from three different sources: the PC (hardware graphics card or drivers), the HDMI cable, or the television itself.
In other words, the hefty bill could be 500€ for a graphics card, 800€ for a television, or 20/30€ for a cable. It must be said that I wouldn’t mind the last option, by far the most comforting.
I can immediately rule out the drivers being improperly installed (they have been reinstalled and updated on several Windows boots and the problem is still the same), but they could still be incomplete or defective.
I cannot test with another HDMI cable since the one from my Freebox is a measly 90 centimeters. It makes me think I could test the one from the computer on the Freebox and see if the problem lies there or not (I will post the result by editing this).
The problem could also come from the television (but since the other person who had this issue on the link provided above did not have the same television, I think we can rule out this option).

The subject of the post might seem silly since I’m more or less addressing my own problem, but I’m sharing it in hopes that someone can share their experience and how they dealt with it. Also, I may be poorly informed about a known issue that could explain this (like incomplete/poor drivers from Ati...)
In fact, I welcome any response that could help me... without that, everything goes to repair service, and that would really annoy me...

Thank you to those who will reply,
Best regards,
Swann

Configuration: Windows 7/ Firefox 3.6.8

For those who encounter the same problem, it is resolved. It is actually a failure of the Catalyst Control Center drivers. However, the issue is quickly addressed.
For your information, it was encountered on most major TV brands (Samsung, Sony, LG...).
In the CCC, go to the "graphics" tab, then "desktops & displays," right-click on the TV screen thumbnail, and select "configure." There, you need to go to the HDTV tab, select the HD modes that your TV supports, then go to the "Pixel format" tab and set it to "Full-RGB."
The problem is now just a distant memory.

My dude, I love you. I had the same problem as you with the same screen (just one size up :p) and I was going crazy with its Mozart seal color change time and then you come up with this ultra lame solution xD. As for me, I had six formatings and three trips to a specialized technician who never understood why :D. I'm testing this at noon hoping it will work for me too :) thank you very much.

Good evening, how are we going to see the CCC? It's good, is it possible to have more explanations, thank you.
