Hello,

I no longer have the battery icon in the notification bar. I tried right-clicking on it, going to properties, notification area, and checking the "Power Management" tab, but it doesn’t work because it is grayed out. What should I do? Also, as a result of this, I no longer have internet access on my Dell PC, neither wired nor wireless. Could someone please help me???
Thank you

P.S.: This incident happened when I was on the train (Thalys). I was watching a movie and my computer suddenly turned off twice for no reason, even though it was plugged in. Once I got home, I couldn't connect to the internet and my battery icon had disappeared.

Thank you both for your answers in any case! As for rebooting, I've already done that, but without success. Well, if rebooting means restarting...

To respond to "Tribun": yes, I was connected to the power supply and I was on the train. When you talk about connection, do you mean WiFi? If so, well, there was one. And for the voltage: 240V.

I've always used my laptop on the train. And even on the Thalys, but it's the first time I've had this crap!!! I'm also thinking about a bad connection or a voltage spike... but what to do now? Complain to Thalys? lolll... But if you have another idea, I'm all ears...

Thanks in advance

"if the msg comes twice, sorry, I don't really know how the site works! lol"

What is your version of Windows?

Thank you again for your response...

I went into Device Manager and on Network Adapters, there are two yellow triangles next to two items:
- Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card
- Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

What's weird...

And then the version is Windows Vista

...What does that mean... :-s

If you have a CD with the drivers, you can use it; otherwise, you need to go to the manufacturer's site or search the internet for the drivers.

Hi tribun,

thanks for your reply, but could you tell me if the Microsoft installation CD corresponds to this driver CD? And if not, what drivers should I look for online? Are they the ones corresponding to these two points:
- Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card
- Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller?

Thanks

Well no! The Windows CD contains some drivers, but not all of them.
So with certain brands of PCs, a system DVD is supplied with a drivers CD.
It's not the same as a PC with a pre-installed system where all the drivers are installed, and where you have nothing like an installation system software.
But simply a Recovery partition.
Such as Dell, HP, Acer, Compaq, PBell, etc.

I have 2 QForce laptops! They were delivered to me with an installation CD/DVD and a drivers CD.
That's the crap about all these PCs sold without a DVD and without drivers CDs; the buyer
doesn't know the problems in case of system malfunction.
At the time of purchase, they don't say anything, because generally the sellers don't know anything about it.

Thank you for your answers in any case K!

I finally had to call Dell support. I had a very rude lady, but in the end, my PC is working again. The drivers were reinstalled and she had to do a Windows system restore so I could get that famous icon! ;-))

THANK YOU FOR THIS SITE AND TO THE TECH-SAVVY USERS FOR THEIR PRECIOUS RESPONSES!!!!!!!!!

Right-click on the small arrow at the bottom right, then click on the line customize notifications, go to the battery icon, then show all, apply, then ok, and check if it appears.

No. He mentioned in his post that the Edawards box was grayed out, so it wasn't possible. It must have been a driver issue since the system restore fixed everything.

Yes, I read that he solved his issue by calling Dell.
The instructions I wrote are for when the icons disappear so that he or she can restore them.

I had this problem too, same grayed-out boxes, but I just had to restart my computer. If anyone is still looking, give it a try =))

Try removing the battery, let it sit for 1 or 2 hours, and then reboot.

Hello
You were connected to the so-called outlet! but you were on the train.
Is there a possibility of connection and what voltage is the outlet?
A surge? ?

Power surge or poor connection, that's also possible.

Well, your thing is still weird. Is your battery charging?
You can't see it anymore!!
As for the internet, go to the device manager and check if you have a yellow dot on the Network card and elsewhere.
And for the rest, if there are missing icons and if it's grayed out, you might have corrupted files on your system? Due to what! Power surge or simple coincidence.

This means you need to reinstall the drivers for your internet connection.
- Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card
- Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
It's possible that your system experienced a shock on the train (surge)???
But I'm not sure.
As for the missing functions, it's likely that your system has corrupted files. To restore these functions, you need to reinstall the system.

Delete all old restore points and create a new system restore point now that everything is working? This could help you later.
