Toolbar (links): security warning
SolvedTartine- Posted messages 12 Status Membre -
Hello,
In my taskbar, I have a toolbar (links) where I have various shortcuts (Chrome, Firefox, etc.). Since a morning update, when I click on the shortcuts for Chrome and Firefox (and even Skype and VLC), a "Security Warning" dialog box appears (see image) and I have to click "Open" to launch the shortcut. How can I prevent this dialog box from showing up anymore?
Thank you

Hello,
It's the UAC that intervenes by censoring an object (link) whose publisher is unknown; this behavior is not linked to your toolbar, but to the nature of the files (lnk shortcuts) only.
You can customize the level at your own risk, it’s up to you to assess whether the software you install or run or the objects you execute pose a danger.

If that’s not the case, it means Windows Defender has a filter censoring lnk files that can be removed.

I think moreover that the folder \Favorites\Links is protected by Windows.
Easy to verify: create any folder on your disk and copy the links in question there, make it a new toolbar to see if the problem persists (and what's more natural, because as far as I know, I don't use links anywhere other than in bookmarks, the latest versions of Windows 10 no longer use this folder and simply pin the links).
Hello,
Thank you!
Indeed, I copied all the shortcuts I had in my favorites\links folder into a new folder, then added a toolbar from this new folder, and the links in this new toolbar work!
Thank you very much for your help :D
