Hello,
I had a problem with my Packard Bell Store & Save 400GB hard drive, so I had to format it on Vista; however, Vista formatted it to NTFS...
I tried to reconnect my hard drive to the TV, but it did not detect my drive. I thought the reason was that the drive was in NTFS format, so I converted it to FAT32...
But still the same problem :/ Could you help me?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Dunkirk, here Coudekerque
the hard drives are not "recognized" by the TVs that are not equipped for that, it is the exclusive domain of laptops or desktop computers. The original NTFS formatting means that some TVs (LG, Sony, and Samsung) accept reading and recording on USB keys formatted in Fat32 (and no more than 8GB for the keys) on a USB with built-in proprietary software.
Current recording solutions
- external TNT demos equipped with a USB port allowing recording on a USB key (CGV ST4WH for example) need to read the key with this demo, it works and it also reads .avi
- there is a TV brand that also does this (forgot the name, sorry)
personally I also use the Freebox V5 HD whose HD TV part (two boxes) records on an internal hard drive in HD or SD (super quality), it also receives terrestrial TNT with its built-in tuner
- digital salon recorders but I avoid it due to the price and complexity of use
- desktop computers with a built-in TV card (optional) that record TV from a good (strong signal) antenna
Hello, surely see you soon -
Thank you for your response, but I want to clarify that before formatting my hard drive, my television could detect my hard drive through its USB port, and I was able to read the music and video data that was on it.

Hello
from experience, I can tell you that FAT32 is quite difficult to implement; for example, WinXP doesn’t do it. Moreover, in read-only mode, FAT32 is not essential. It remains to be seen for you if reverting to NTFS would be the solution? You should also ask your TV provider about the software available for reading external video files since it has worked, you say? Try with a large USB stick of 8GB to lend for instance (in NTFS)

I have the same problem; my TV reads one of my hard drives... however, I bought a new one of the same brand but a different model, and my TV does not detect it... I noticed that it was in NTFS compared to my other one that works, which is in FAT32... I formatted my hard drive to FAT32, and now my TV detects the photos... but when it comes to movies, nothing happens when I open the media player on my TV... I can't play my movies... yet everything works perfectly with my other external hard drive. If anyone has a solution, I’m all ears...
